Sometimes.. usually it is to allow my mind to analyze the parts or I love the driving/heavy rhythm or the vocals/lyrics. Sometimes some bassliens make me listen to a trac again as well.

Last song was SOlitaire/Unraveling by Mushroomhead, but it is rarely singles.

I always become obsessed with certain songs and this obsession can last for two weeks or it can last for years. I'll literally play them a few times in a row at various times during the day.

All the time. There's plenty of songs I can't get out of my head.

I do it mostly if I can't concentrate, like bloody yesterday. Actually, I think I'll listen to Crocodiles again after this listen. :P

i listened to charlie balogh [an ace organist] playing "clap hands, here comes charlie!" numberless times both on a CD as well as with earworm replays of it in my mind.

Yes. When I was studying for the Math Subject GRE (which did not go as well as I planned, rrr) and had to stay in my house for a week, I listened to this (link follows) and Brian Wilson/Beach Boys all day every day. I've probably listened to this album maybe 50 times and the title track 100 times (hard to guess), and it was mostly that week: [EDIT: I'm too new to link URLs. The album is Le Universe Perverse by Witchboy and a free stream is the first google result for that name and artist.]

The title track is so incredible though that I feel like I'm being physically sexually stimulated, or like I'm on drugs. I feel this way when I listen to noise music or anything with a pleasant "buzz" or distortion sound, as well (raver alert).

Oh ALSO one of my favorite Beatles song parts is that "bum bum bum BUM bum bum" sort of creepy bridge in "I Want You"-- and one time when my roommates were out (filming the Freedom Tunnels in NYC, I might add-- and what was I doing? Staying home studying for a Physics class and listening to this damn song!) the record started skipping on that part and only that part (a few-note phrase)! I was like heeeellllllll yes-- I let it play for prob 1.5 hrs, it was SO GOOD.

You bet! Sometimes I don't have a choice, whereas other times I genuinely like the song.

I fixate on songs a lot and replay them over and over and over. In the old days of tapes, I'd make whole 120 minute tapes of one song. Right now, I listen to Rob Halford's cover of Sara Bareilles' "Winter Song." For a long time it was Kate Bush's "Running Up that Hill."

I can also totally agree with what you're saying.
My housemates think I'm so weird!
They're all like "you've listened to it once, why do you want to listen to it again right after?"
But I just get super into a song, it sorta matches a mood I'm in and I just have it on repeat heaps.
SOmetimes it's for a day, or a week, but then after a while I start to miss all the little details that were the reason I loved it in the first place and so it gets replaced by another song and then sometime in the future I may come back to it. =)
One I have done this with in the past are:
Killing for Love - Jose Gonzalez
Love Lost - The Temper Trap
La Noche - Estrella Morente
Liquorice - Azealia Banks

Do you guys find that the songs have to have a good beat in order for you become obsessed with them? (for want of a better word.)
