Mmm...yes and no. Look up The Shroud by Breakage, it reminds me of that more. Burial's cool but his insert of club vocals tends to annoy me a little (Foster Care is awesome though).

While I like deep epic, pull you in type landscapes (Golden Proportion and The Leopard pull you in like a recent Metroid Prime/Echoes/etc. type of place), I also tend to like really thick, stoned, heavy, crush your consciousness and blow your mind to bits type stuff. That real stabby/staccattoed sound is one of many that I think achieves the later effect well.

Also, I'm about to do a couple 'features' here - ie. highlight a couple producers but not post all of the links as youtube videos - it would make the thread cumbersome. Just click the links at your leisure.

Phaeleh - deep melodic stuff, really soulful. I think he has more tunes that give me chills out there than anyone else (some other people are starting to think the way he does as well though, Solitudes Ambient Dubstep vol 4 on Soundcloud is loaded with such goodies:

Kito - she's been absolutely killing it in the last few years. Has some really awesome liquid/funk type dubstep with rnb lacings (third link has some really nice electro halfway through as well) but as the last link shows she can twist em out with Phaeleh as well when she's up for it. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that she's another Optical in the production sense but I'd put her in the global top 20 of dubstep without hesitation.

I quickly tired of Burial. His 2nd LP was mostly just a mess if you ask me. The stuff with Fourtet was just boring... I've no time for him now

I am minded of this tune that caught my ear a wee while back. I like it.

Ever heard of Marina Faib? She's pretty sick.

And these are Americans believe it or not! Love the melody though, exactly the kind of thing I'd go for but... it does kinda just sit on top, needs something.

I'm not a fan of this music at all. It feels too two dimensional for me to like it. :\

Actually, my best friend's ex-boyfriend is a dubstep DJ. For a while there, I got used to hearing the stuff a LOT. It can be quite fun, but I've got to say I grew to resent it once it began to completely take over the scene here in San Francisco. Like psytrance before it, dubstep can be thrilling in limited doses, a bit much in larger doses, and can begin to feel cheesier than power metal when I'm really submerged in the stuff.

I came into this thread with every intention to say I don't care for Dubstep and quickly move on. It's been about an hour and a half now since I've been listening to all the suggestions posted previously, and now found a few of my own.

Now I have a much work to do as I add an entire new genre to my music collection. Thanks.
