Oh. I didn't even really bother to read the post properly
I just saw the words "worst genre ever" and "noise" and I went insane. I apologise.

I love old school grindcore and some cybergrind stuff. But unfortunately most grindcore bands these days are just a bunch of rednecks hitting random notes, making belching sounds, and using cheap shock techniques.

Same reason I can barely understand Cockney and Ukrainian. Takes getting used to.

I have, however, trained myself to be able to understand most growled/grunted lyrics. Pig squeals are just f*****g weird. In fact, pig squeals, as exhibited by this lovely vocalist sound, remarkably, not unlike that of Tuvan and similar Central Asian throat-singing techniques:

To be more precise, it sounds as if he's hitting an overtone, but with...distortion, so-to-speak.

It's also easier to understand growls/grunts/pig squeals/black metal vocals if one is able to use them. My growls are, admittedly, incredibly sh***y in comparison to professional metal vocalists, but I can do enough to imagine what certain sounds mean and the like. It's really neat.

oh man, thanks for this thread, bolt thrower and napalm are awesome.

I was under the impression that Bolt Thrower and Napalm Death are considered to be simply death metal, rather than grindcore.

To be honest, I don't know why. The way I explain it is that I can tolerate or like some death (but not melodeath) bands, but can't stand grindcore. I can tolerate listening to Napalm Death and Nuclear Assault, but I actively enjoy listening to the vast majority of Bolt Thrower albums.

Apology accepted.

Well after pioneering grind ND did turn more death metal, starting with "Harmony Corruption" and continued this way on lots of later albums.

The same thing kind of happened with Bolt Thrower, though even their earliest stuff isn’t quite as grindy as Napalm Death’s. One can hear crust/hardcore punk, death metal and thrash metal influences on an album like “In Battle There Is No Law” which are all bastardized to create something that’s filthy and grindy enough to qualify, at least IMO.

you jest, but with better marketing they might have won the turner prize

Either way, I still don't see the creativity or the appeal. I'm just not the type of person to enjoy that kind of music.

Ahem, Post-Rock, ahem.

That's minimalism, not post-rock and jeez, I was only kidding. Sorry if I made you mad.

Well...that's not Grindcore. I was only sort-of joking anyway. I do own some Post-Rock records, I was just thinking of your name...

I'm no grindcore fan, but i will tolerate some Napalm Death every now and then. Their last two albums - Smear Campaign and Time Waits for No Slave are pretty intense and heavy.

That being said, i'm more of a traditional/thrash/power/doom and some progressive metal, along with a little bit of death and black (Venom, Emperor, early Dimmu Borgir, Dissection, Celtic Frost, Mercyful Fate and Tyr). The rest is all one-chord loony music.

Here is my opinion on Grindcore: Punk was created when people wanted to make Rock, but they couldn't actually play as they lacked the talent. Grindcore was created by people trying to make Death Metal, but they lacked the talent to play it, so they ended up with Grindcore. Grindcore is like the punk version of Death Metal, it's really nothing like most metal and it lacks all the technical complexity of death metal.

Actually, I've found most non-extreme metal to be easier to understand than a lot of pop, and the lyrics are infinitely better.

Ganondox I am talking about extreme metal though I find death to be easier to understand than black.

Well as it's not just an ode to gore or Satan it probably is deep.
