W.A.S.P. has always been a corny band, but their cover of The Who's "The Real Me" is very cool. It's much like the original, but turbo-charged. A favorite song of my long-ago youth. :P

I really don't like Bono, but I do like a few of U2's songs.

But this version of one of them appeals to my gothish sensibilities.

That was the first thing that came to mind for me, too. I also love Ryan Adam's cover of "Wonderwall" by Oasis.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along The Watchtower yet.
Give me some time and I'll think of a more original choice...

What was that song in the movie Empire Records, that girl and boy duo; I remember liking their song more than the original.

EDIT: oh ohoh, Sugar High! !!

Found it

Turnabout is fair play.

I enjoy the original of this song, but this version is just too awesome to not post:

Here, the cover is way better, in my opinion:

Here's another pretty cover by the same artist as the above:

Another cover that I like way better than the original is Bette Midler's version of "I'm hip" on her "Bathhouse Betty" album. I could only find the original on youtube, however (by Blossom Dearie). I've been meaning to post it on my alt youtube account (this seems like a good excuse). Edit: the video's supposed to end up here, for anyone who wants to hear this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGe_yhv8nuE It says it's still processing, though (I was having trouble trying to get the picture to stick around for the length of the video, for some reason, so tried a few times.)

He's awesome! I love his cover of Something about Us by Daft Punk. Not a fan of the original. :P

No time to find the video, but I prefer "Bad To The Bone" by Alvin & The Chipmunks to the original version by George Thorogood.

I never heard the Five Discs original, but I'm sure this is as good.

Forgive me, David Bowie fans, but I prefer this version:
