Just casing what's out there:

Never heard of these guys before but just taking a listen, Natalie's sure as sh*t got an authoritative voice, it just grabs traction and sticks to the beat and obviously the beats are well done - they're both pretty serious. Love to hear a trip-hop or bash up between that and more contemporary elements from them:

Adelle's just a given, one of the best voices of the year and perhaps last few years, her swagger's dead aim as well:

Also don't forget about her, she's coming out with a new album and I'm dying to hear it. She's gotta be my favorite US female artist ATM just for shattering bounds as well as genre bending with as much dynamic taste as she has:

Yeah, Morcheeba's always been sick.

Something you check out as well if you're a fan Bachelorett by Bjork, Grooverider did a really powerful and haunted remix of this back in 97':

Bjork - Bachelorette (Grooverider Remix)

Not just a random try either as I'm pretty sure they knew each other through Goldie.

I've seen a couple of songs and songstresses in this thread I hold in high regard (Alanis, seriously... she gets too much hate for 'Ironic'- I love her lyrics in general, and she has a good stage performance)....

But Dancing Penguin, I'm excited to see someone include 'Say You'll Be There' by the Spice Girls in their playlist. That has been a favourite of mine for about 15 years now, and certainly my favourite Spice Girls song. Heck, it's even beyond a guilty pleasure for me.

I'd like to submit a live performance here, though there's an official music video for this song:

I have great respect for this girl. Fine voice, but what's surprising is, after she had her greatest hit with 'Stuck' back in '03, and subsequently released slightly less succesful singles... she actually decided that the world of pop music fame and fortune wasn't for her... and she went back home to work as a waitress in a little restaurant. I think that's ten times as cool as all those MTV celebs on Cribs with the 7 sports cars in their yards.

Dusty is probably my favourite, the Memphis album especially. But this is my favourite song of hers, written by Carole King.
It's was Dusty's own favourite song from her career.

It's funny you post these, they were both used in "The Lovely Bones", which is one of my favorite movies.

Yes, I was very pleased when I saw them used in the movie.
