"I'm Alive" by Disturbed

Never again will I be dishonored
And never again will I be reminded
We're living within the world of the jaded
They killed inspiration
It's my obligation
To never again, allow this to happen
Where do I begin?
The choices are endless
Denying the sin
My art, my redemption
I carry the torch of my fathers before me

The thing I treasure most in life cannot be taken away
There will never be a reason why I will surrender to your advice
To change myself, I'd rather die
Lonely, we'll not understand
I will make the greatest sacrifice
You can't predict where the outcome lies
You'll never take me alive
I'm alive
I'm alive
I'm alive

Danger, then, cannot be considered
I rage again, dispelling my anger
Where do I begin?
The choices are endless
My art, my redemption, my only salvation
I carry the gift that I have been blessed with
My soul is adrift in notions of madness
Repairing the rift that you have created
I am not alone, brothers, give me your arms now

The thing I treasure most in life cannot be taken away
There will never be a reason why I will surrender to your advice
To change myself, I'd rather die
Lonely, we'll not understand
I will make the greatest sacrifice
You can't predict where the outcome lies
You'll never take me alive

I'm no slave
Are you feeling brave?
Or have you gone out of your mind?
No more games
It won't feel the same
If I hold my anger inside
There's no meaning
My soul is bleeding
I've had enough of your kind
One suggestion, use your discretion
Before you label it lie

The thing I treasure most in life cannot be taken away
There will never be a reason why I will surrender to your advice
To change myself, I'd rather die
Lonely, we'll not understand
I will make the greatest sacrifice
You can't predict where the outcome lies
You'll never take me alive
I'm alive

"Don Aman" by Slint The lyrics deal with social anxiety.

"Measuring Cup" by Andrew Bird The negative stigma of being considered "special" in school due to a label/disability and the annoying ways adults treat you due to it.

dan bull is a UK rapper with aspergers and he's freaking great. he has a new album out called 'face' and it's free. i'd post the link but it wont let me because i haven't posted enough posts yet. anyways, his song 'portrait of the autist' is directly about having aspergers, but theres references to it in a couple other songs. you should listen to it regardless of whether or not you like hip-hop or rap because it's actually meaningful and thought provoking and i find it really relatable.

yeh he's amazing :). I actually spoke to him about me having aspergers (when I first suspected) and he was a great help; He gave me advice on who to talk to about it.

I was the one who recommended he put the album FACE on youtube, just sayin' :3

Blur, "Coffee & TV"

Do you feel like a chain store?
Practically floored
One of many zeros
Kicked around bored
Your ears are full but your empty
Holding out your heart
To people who never really
Care how you are

So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again

Do you go to the country
It isn't very far
There's people there who will hurt you
Cos of who you are

Your ears are full of the language
There's wisdom there you're sure
'Til the words start slurring
And you can't find the door

So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again

So give me Coffee and TV
History
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away from this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again

Oh...we could start over again
Oh...we could start over again
Oh...we could start over again
Oh...we could start over again

What about "Mariella" by Kate Nash? It's one of my favorite songs, and I can definitely relate.

Yeah, I was going to say that one. "Do" by The White Stripes always reminds me a little of AS. Oh, and "Conversation Piece" by David Bowie.

Radiohead's Karma Police remind me a little of this, especially this part here:
Karma police, arrest this man
He talks in maths
He buzzes like a fridge
He's like a detuned radio

These lyrics sound pretty autistic:

As the shroud cleared from my mind,
The sights I saw, the remnants of my world,
Were all grim apparitions.
Ghastly remnants of a past, interior night.
The pawn lay dead, banished from my head.
And the scent of self deceit grew weak.
The story of I, needs to be revised,
Behold the pawn lay dead!

I've banished my false self I have shred my wretched hide.
I have turned the tide.
Those ill's I have suffered affected both mind and skin,
My demons were my own kin.
My fire still remains.
I'll gladly fall from grace.
I'll sacrifice no life for false ideals or for your false ways.

With sight free of taint, a clear conscience regained,
I began to realize my fate, was not to be subject nor be pawn,
I'll bear no crown of thorns.

With all of my heart I forsake the term normality and the illusion of its existence among
the ranks of mankind. Normality is an image constructed by the powerful to further
strengthen their cause and their hold on the subjective realm one calls reality. The normal
person has never existed in flesh, nor will he ever do. He is merely a manifestation of the
person who best serves the interests of the elite who controls the definition of normality.
To be free one must thus rid oneself of any aspiration to be normal. Normality is slavery.
Be Abnormal! Be Free!
