I agree. My outsider status and ability to interpret things literally, and look at things objectively, helps me make high-quality insights/observations in my writing. And I think that seeing things in this way is what drives me towards writing in the first place.

I also notice small details other people don't, and remember useless/interesting bits of information around them. Which is a nifty party trick for a wannabee novelist to have.

Unfortunately all this is balanced by me having major issues thinking of stories, and getting stories down coherently, but I have been improving at these through practice.

It seems like most quick articles on Aspies like to point to the pragmatic/logical, "cold"ness of the condition, but from this website and a few people I have met in my life I suspect to be Aspergers or on the spectrum, it seems as common as in NTs to be more left or right brained in talent, or some combination. Perhaps the traits are just more drastic in people with Aspergers, as with the intense focus or other aspects. I was good at all subjects in school EXCEPT for math. I always felt like the dunce, which seemed so contrary being one of the top students usually in my other subjects.

I don't think having aspergers makes much of a difference. The key difference is intense focus(plus the inability to understand subtle gesture and whatnot), but it's still an interest like everyone else.

I'm horrible at math, I study art, but I wouldn't say I'm a pro, and I don't focus on it intently for hours because I can't. But, like people without the condition, Aspergers does not fully define what hobbies you like, I think. Some people here may like animals, other like cars. And some may not prefer sports at all.

So far this site has proven to me that people with Aspergers are so different from one another that, besides the lack of understanding human gestures, I didn't think this site was any different from every other social site I've been to.

That's just what I think ^^"
