If you're going to get into Sludge/Doom I highly recommend a band called Thou. I had the pleasure of seeing them live with no prior knowledge and their set is literally life changing. Also Hell. Hell is another great doom band.

If we're talking about the same Hell, they seem like more of a progressiveish NWOBHM band. I do enjoy their album quite a bit though, so deliciously blasphemous.

Thou is pretty sweet though. Thanks for that one.

I don't believe we're talking about the same Hell. There is a bigger band called Hell that i don't care for much. The Hell I'm talking about is a drone/Doom band. Their s**t is really hard to find.

Doom is my musical genre of choice, though I indulge in black metal (in small doses) every now and then. Nothing tops Candlemass, in my opinion. Electric Wizard and Solitude Aeternus are also up there.

Have you listened to Master's Hammer at all yet Roberyllium?? Particularly their album "Ritual" released in 1991?? You won't find another album too much like it.

I just listened to a track from that album. I enjoyed what I heard. Classy traditional black metal.

Amazing that it predates Norweigan second wave bm (the bm releases of Darkthrone, Immortal, Burzum, Emperor etc.). I really like the odd Czech folk influences sprinkled throughout the album as well.
If you want to dig deeper into the early Czech scene be sure to check out Root and Tudor if you haven't already as well.

I haven't seen Hail Of Bullets in this thread, which is a shame because it is one of the best new metalacts I've seen in a while. Their albums rule, and when I saw them live at Hellfest a while back they ripped the whole place up. Their albums deal with WOII in a chronological order. In their first album they start with Operation Barbarossa and end with Berlin.
