Hold up, thought of another song.

Too bad rap went in the opposite direction as the message in this song.

Has Chali 2na from Jurassic 5 in it. Speaking of Jurassic 5. Good stuff.

Throwback kinda style music. Nice stuff.

Lastly, A Tribe Called Quest. Man, I should get some of my oldschool rap again. It's been awhile.

Nowadays, I prefer oldschool R&B to rap.

I'm definitely not averse to rap and hip-hop. Actually, it comprised about a third of what I listened to in my high school years. I stopped listening to it for a while, and still don't have much of a connection with today's hip-hop (with some exceptions here and there), but I have reconnected with a lot of the hip-hop from my high school years and before. Some of what I like includes Biggie, 2Pac, Dr. Dre, older Snoop Dogg, Eminem, DMX, Jay-Z, and a lot of other hip-hop that was popular in the 90's and early 2000's. I like some of the hip-hop influenced R&B from that era as well, such as R. Kelly, Mary J. Blige, and Aaliyah.

I really love the Original Hip Hop the best! 8)

It was great for Popping & Streetdance, mixed with Techno, had less BS, and a much more Multicultural image than today.

I really want a TR-808! :D

I only last week discovered Mos Def and Talib Kweli, and have been playing their Black Star album all the time ever since. Why did it take me 15 years to open up to this?

Here's their collaboration with Common, 'Respiration':

Just want to clarify before anyone ignores this that it is not the terrible song about waving a flag at a football match:

most of the footage is near where I live. Some of the words are English. He mixes Afrikaans and English.

That is so cool! Jack Parow had a little hit here in Holland as well, namely 'Cooler As Ekke'. Part of the appeal was that we can understand about 50% of his rapping because of the similarities between Afrikaans and Dutch.

Organized Konfusion, of which Pharaoahe Monch was one half (and Prince Po the other):
