It's pretty easy for me NOW. I used to suck though. I just spent the past 3 years practicing, so that's how I can just whip out something like that. In a few more minutes, I'll post an inkwash self-portrait that I just started working on.

I want to be able to draw people, as I really want to draw my characters I made up.

OK, here is the QUICK ink-wash self-portrait :

I did this with a dip-pen using black, white, brown, blue and silver inks, and water. It only took me 30 minutes.

Not really, but thanks. I'll post my homework assignment on monday, since it's the same type of drawing (ink wash). I'll see if I can set something up so you can see one of these in progress. I'll try to youtube it.

I can't wait. Oooh, I got some pencils today, and the ones I like too. A shame I left them at home, otherwise I'd be doing some drawing right now.

drawing is really never hard to do, you just have to be happy with what you draw thats all

I've been drawing in order to improve my fine motor skills - it does seem to gradually get easier with practice, although I still find it very difficult to do half-properly. I got a book of engravings from the library (Francisco de Goya's 'The Disasters of War') and copy the ones I like best. For me, it works best to spend a lot of time on one drawing rather than less time on many drawings, redoing parts that I get particularly wrong.

I'm limited with my drawing.

I like to draw cartoon people.

I've basically stuck to that topic, and I just improve my drawings in that topic.

My drawings have always been deformed. I am unable to draw a straight line or create a figure that resembles a real human. I used to draw scores of comics with stick figures, but all of the illustrations were ridiculously bad (think Harvey Pekar). So, don't feel so bad about it. There are people who are worse.

I guess I could copy things from my drawing books...
