What a nice thread.
Dickon Hinchcliffe was the violinist and arranger for Tindersticks, a band who've always had a cinematic sweep to their music (and did a few scores themselves). He does scores on his own now. This is from the excellent Winter's Bone:
There was a longer video up mixing some of the pieces, but sadly it seems to have disappeared. I grabbed an MP3 conversion of it, though, so might put it back up myself if I can get my kids to show me how to make a video...

Was about to post this in the 'What are you listening to this very second' thread, but it suddenly dawned on me that it's in, at least 1 John Hughes film. Can't recall which one(s), however. Anyhow_
