Kyuss - Space Cadet

I'm standing alone on the cliffs of the world.
No one ever tends to me.
Sitting alone, covered in rays.
Some things are so my mind can breath

Waiting is hard
f*****g takes so long
Draped in sun - hands in sand
Earth acid cleanses me, cleanses me clean
But the world, it never comes

It never comes
It never comes
It never comes

I lay on my side in the edge of the room
She never expects anything from me
When all the days - the days of the year
I know I miss that part of me.

Waiting is hard
f*****g takes so long
Draped in sun, hands in sand
Earth acid cleanses me, cleanses me clean
But the world it never comes

It never comes
It never comes
It never comes
It never comes
It never comes

Bad Religion- American Jesus

"I don't need to be a global citizen,
'Cuz i'm blessed by nationality.
I'm member of a growing populace,
We enforce our popularity.
There are things that seem to pull us under and,
There are things that drag us down.
But there's a power and a vital presence,
It's lurking all around.

We've got the American Jesus,
See him on the interstate.
We've got the American Jesus,
He helped build the President's estate.

I feel sorry for the Earth's population,
'Cuz so few live in the U.S.A.
At least the foreigners can copy our morality,
They can visit but they cannot stay.
Only precious few can garner our prosperity,
It makes us walk with renewed confidence.
We got a place to go when we die,
And the architect resides right here.

We've got the American Jesus,
Bolstering national faith.
We've got the American Jesus,
Overwhelming millions every day.

He's the farmer's barren fields,
(in god)
The force the army wields,
(we trust)
Expressions on the faces of the starving millions,
(because he's one of us)
The power of the man,
(break down)
He's the fuel that drives the clan,
(cave in)
He's the motive and the conscience of the murderer,
(we can redeem our sins)
He's the preacher on T.V. ,
(strong heart)
The false sincerity,
(clear mind)
The form letter that's written by the big computers,
(and infinitely kind)
The nuclear bombs,
(you lose)
The kids with no moms,
(we win)
And i'm fearful that he's inside me...
(he is our champion)

One nation under god...

We've got the American Jesus
See him on the interstate
We've got the American Jesus
Exercising his authority
We've got the American Jesus
Bolstering national faith
We've got the American Jesus
Overwhelming millions every day

One nation, under God..."

"It's Summertime" by the Flaming Lips
It's summertime - and I can understand if you
Still feel - sad -
It's summertime and though it's hard to see its true
possibilities -

When you look inside - all you'll see
When you look inside - all you'll see
Is a self-reflected inner sadness -
Look outside - I know that you'll
Recognize it's summertime

Nirvana - All Apologies

What else should I be
All apologies
What else could I say
Everyone is gay
What else could I write
I don't have the right

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Buried
Married
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

I wish I was like you
Easily amused
Find my nest of salt
Everything is my fault
I'll take all the blame
Aqua seafoam shame
Sunburn with freezer burn
Choking on the ashes of her enemy

In the sun
In the sun I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Buried
Married
Buried

Yeah yeah yeah yeah

All in all is all we are (x13)

I like this song alot. It's rather new, and the first time i heard it was at their show in April. I felt as if they were singing to me. Maybe some of you might identify with these lyrics. The song is great, BTW, if any of you ever want to check this band out. Great band.

VNV Nation ---- "Illusion"

I know it's hard to tell how mixed up you feel
Hoping what you need is behind every door
Each time you get hurt, I don't want you to change
Because everyone has hopes, you're human after all
The feeling sometimes, wishing you were someone else
Feeling as though you never belong
This feeling is not sadness, this feeling is not joy
I truly understand, Please, don't cry now

Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you
Please don't go, I want you to stay
I'm begging you please, please don't leave here
I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel
The world is just illusion trying to change you

Being like you are
Well this is something else, who would comprehend?
But some that do, lay claim that
Divine purpose blesses them
That's not what I believe, it doesn't matter anyway
A part of your soul ties you to the next world
Or maybe to the last, I'm still not sure
What I do know is, to us the world is different
As we are to the world but, I guess you would know that .

This is a bit of a silly one but I found it quite funny, you need to see the video of them singing it though really.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTby_e4-Rhg

Of course, the qualifiers 'finite' and 'simple' are unneccesary here since there is only one isomorphism class of groups of order two anyway and they are trivially finite and simple but it seems to fit the lyric better that way.

Finite Simple Group (of Order Two) by the Klein Four Group

The path of love is never smooth
But mine's continuous for you
You're the upper bound in the chains of my heart
You're my Axiom of Choice, you know it's true

But lately our relation's not so well-defined
And I just can't function without you
I'll prove my proposition and I'm sure you'll find
We're a finite simple group of order two

I'm losing my identity
I'm getting tensor every day
And without loss of generality
I will assume that you feel the same way

Since every time I see you, you just quotient out
The faithful image that I map into
But when we're one-to-one you'll see what I'm about
'Cause we're a finite simple group of order two

Our equivalence was stable,
A principal love bundle sitting deep inside
But then you drove a wedge between our two-forms
Now everything is so complexified

When we first met, we simply connected
My heart was open but too dense
Our system was already directed
To have a finite limit, in some sense

I'm living in the kernel of a rank-one map
From my domain, its image looks so blue,
'Cause all I see are zeroes, it's a cruel trap
But we're a finite simple group of order two

I'm not the smoothest operator in my class,
But we're a mirror pair, me and you,
So let's apply forgetful functors to the past
And be a finite simple group, a finite simple group,
Let's be a finite simple group of order two
(Oughter: "Why not three?")

I've proved my proposition now, as you can see,
So let's both be associative and free
And by corollary, this shows you and I to be
Purely inseparable. Q. E. D

The QED bit is funnier in the video as he makes the Halmos Tombstone (an unfilled square used to denote the end of a proof) with his hands.

There can't be any one so i'm giving my seven in no particular order except they're important lyrics of this thread.

Quote:
I said "Pretend you've got no money."
but she just laughed an said "Oh you're so funny."
I said "Yeah?
Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here
Are you sure?
Are you sure you want to live like common people
you want to see whatever common people see
you want to sleep with common people
you want to sleep with common people like me?"
But she didn't understand
she just smiled and held my hand

- Common People - Pulp

Happiness is so hard to find

Get some mental anaesthesia
Don't move, I'll shut the door and kill the lights
I guess I'll see ya all on the ice

Quote:
I'll pile them high for you
And give my life to you
I'll buy the drinks
And we will slip into the night
We drink until we stink
And dive headlong into the night

- Fill Her Up - Gene

Quote:
Through endless Asia, through the fields of Cathay
or enslaved in pebble-dash grave with a kid on the way
If you're far over Africa on the wings of youth
or if you're down in some satellite town and there's nothing you can do

Just give me, give me, give me the power
And I'll make them bleed

- The Power - Suede

She says I'm free to do anything I'm told
I try the latest newsflash, it's sensational
I feel so seduced, tell me to reproduce

Whatever you want to say, say it now and pay later
Whatever you want to pray, pray it now and pay later
Whatever you want to do, do it now and pay later"

Cos it's no problem if you play it cool
Things are different if you act a fool...

All along the Watchtower ~ Jimi Hendrix

There must be some kind of way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
Theres too much confusion
I cant get no relief
Businessman they drink my wine
Plow men dig my earth
None will level on the line
Nobody of it is worth
Hey hey

No reason to get excited
The thief he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who feel that life is but a joke but uh
But you and I weve been through that
And this is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
The hours getting late
Hey

Hey

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While all the women came and went
Bare-foot servants to, but huh
Outside in the cold distance
A wild cat did growl
Two riders were approachin
And the wind began to howl
Hey
Oh
All along the watchtower
Hear you sing around the watch
Gotta beware gotta beware

The lyrics to that were by Bob Dylan, although I much prefer the Hendrix version.

Yes they were, I should have credited him. I've not heard the Bob Dylan version.

I saw some old footage of Jimi Hendrix doing his version of Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode on TV last night ~ it was brilliant!

Queensryche - "Some People Fly", Hear In the Now Frontier

Used to be a time
We held the world
Wrapped it 'round our finger tips
Laughing at what others missed
Someday, yesterday
The magic we felt went away.
Grow up somebody said -
Tell me where it's gone
So I can go find it now
I can't live your way.
Go ahead without me -
I'll find my own way

Some people fly
And some of us worry
Of touching the sun with wings
I know if I try
I'll get where I'm going,
Keeping my eyes on the sky...

The box you live within is strong,
And it's up to you to see beyond
The comfort zone you've grown to love,
There's more to life than that
The expectations that you hold
Will keep you down, make you old
If you can't see what I'm trying to say,
Maybe you just need
To wear my shoes for awhile
I can't live your way
Go ahead without me -
I'll find my own way

Some people fly
And some of us worry -
I'd risk it all to have wings
I know if I try I'll get where I'm going,
Keeping my eyes on the sky...

While you sit there and think about it,
There's another unfolding their wings
I could tell you what it's like
But until you try
You'll never see what I mean

Some people fly
And some of us worry -
I'll touch the sky with my wings!
I know if I try
I'll get where I'm going
Keeping my eyes on the sky
Keeping my eyes on the sky...

I wonder if it was the same program I sawe a bit of...was it on the BBC?

I'm not a massive fan of Hendrix as a guitarist or singer but I do like a couple of his songs and arragements e.g. All Along the Watchtower, Little Wing, The Wind Cries Mary, etc.

There were two programmes about Hendrix at the weekend, Seven Ages of Rock on BBC 2. I think it was repeated on BBC 1, also Jimi Hendrix a documentary on BBC4.

I like Hendrix but hadn't seen a lot of the footage that was shown on the programmes before. I didn't know he was famous in the UK before he was in the US. It was an interesting story, such a pity he died so young, only in his 20's.

Next week's programme is about David Bowie and Pink Floyd.

Let Me Be Your Armor
by Assemblage 23

Let me take the fall
Let me take the blame
Let me carry you from hell
To home again.

Let me walk for you
When your legs are weak
Let me find the words for you
When you can't speak

Let me be your armor
Let me be your shield
Let me take away the pain you feel (your armor)
Let me be the light
That guides your way through darkest night
Let me be your armor.

Let me take the blows
That were meant for you
Let me help you the trials
You're going through

Let me keep you safe
From the world outside
Let me wipe away the tears
That fill your eyes

Let me be your armor
Let me be your shield
Let me take away the pain you feel (your armor)
Let me be the light
That guides your way through darkest night
Let me be your armor.

Let me keep you from
Experience you need
Let me bind you with my selfishness
And greed

Let me stifle you
Let me have control
Let me smother
Every aspect of your soul

Let me be your armor
Let me be your shield
Let me take away the pain you feel (your armor)
Let me be the light
That guides your way through darkest night
Let me be your armor.

Well some day you will die somehow and
Something's going to steal your carbon
