It's a lot easier for me to cry during a movie than with anything in real life. Books sometimes make me cry too. Hell I was crying when I watched LOTR: The Return of the Kings today on TV. Probably cried more than when I saw in the theaters since I wasn't around strangers. Damn hobbits. Had me crying all the way to Mordor and back. And I cried when Faramir's men charge on the Orcs at the river, and when Elrond brings Aragorn the king's sword, and when Rohan's army prepares to charge at Minas Tirith, and when Gandalf and Pippin saves Faramir, and when Merry and Eowyn take on the Witch-King, and whenever Aragorn says anything with gravity. Serious snot fest. But that's the kind of stuff I cry at in movies. Stuff about valor and courage and death and good vs. evil.

i saw a live orchestra performance and there was a part of the music that was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. of course the people sitting near me thought i was wierd or didn't understand why i was crying but i felt more bad for them because maybe they didn't experience on that same level as me.

I can't cry :( My eyes mean to do it, but they stop just short... I envy you guys.

Anyway, films that make my eyes water are:

The end of Cool Runnings
The end of Click
The end of The Green Mile

There's probably more, but they have eluded my memory.

I usually almost cry at the end of Gladiator, it's a brilliant ending. But for it's all fake, I don't usually cry during movies. I do laugh however

OH, Yes, Forrest Gump makes me shed tears every time! Beautiful story, esp. when he meets the mother of his child , and the child...is a typical kiddo. He is so relieved , and sits down to watch Sesame Street with him.....just tugs and tugs at the heart for me....

Jesus Christ, Forrest Gump. I always begin crying the very moment it starts, and I cry for the next two or three hours until it finally ends. I am pathetic.

There are a lot of movies I have cried at in the past. The scene in 8 Crazy Nights where Davey finally opens the card from his late parents always chokes me up, as does the end of Meet the Robinsons. As for plays, I've seen several live but the one that hit me was one I saw on YouTube. It was a production of Spring Awakening, and during "Left Behind" (the funeral of a suicide victim), a girl who said she had a crush on the boy who died kissed the rose before she threw it in his grave.

I have, but only when I'm by myself. When I'm with others I've come close a few times, but I always manage to suppress it and avoid the "crying man" stigma ;)

This isn't any of the art forms listed, but the scene in the video for "This Is Just a Dream" by Carrie Underwood where the girl is getting married and her dress turns black, and then it's her husband's funeral (he dies serving in the Army) reduced me to tears the first time I saw it. I'm not a fan of Carrie Underwood; I don't dislike her but I can't name more than a couple songs, but when I heard the words to that and the way she sings it as if she is crying out in grief coupled with that visual - powerful stuff.

Loads of times. Up, Midnight Cowboy, American Beauty...The Lion King came out after my dad died, and it still makes me and my brother cry every time we watch it. I think the other film that really got to me was Shooting Dogs - I watched it at an Aegis night at Manchester, and I don't think I've cried so much at one movie. The woman organising the night gave me a hug afterwards. It was that bad. I also remember crying loads at a theatre performance a couple of friends of mine from school did of 4:48 Psychosis - it's this play about mental illness and suicide, and my G-d it was visceral. Watching it was like having my heart ripped out.

I can't remember crying at any gigs, apart from Radiohead in 2003 because my boyfriend at the time had dumped me on the day and we were supposed to be going together, and Tori Amos very recently because she had a string quartet, and when they did Winter it reminded me of my dad, and...yeah. I don't like crying in public, but then this was a Tori gig so I doubt anyone was bothered!

No, but I laughed like buggery at a 'dramatic' point in one film, and all the people behind me were staring at me like a freak.

I'm guilty of crying during an emotional film.
