My attempt to a Haiku.

Cricket songs
Under moonlit treetops,
A smile by my side.
Starlight's glimmer behind your face
Gazes clash silently
Hand covered smiles.
Shily you relax
The wind slips over
Each of our faces.
Clear moon sighting...
The sky remains
Eyelash dark.

The moon and crickets are fall kigos, words they use in haiku poems that relate to the season.

Korogi no uta tsuki no konoshita de watashi no soba de egao. Anata no kao no ushiro ni aru sutaraito no kagayaki shisen wa shizuka ni shototsu suru te wa egao de owa reta. Anata wa tayumu dekimasu kaze ga suberu suru watashitachi no kao no sorezore. Sukkiri tsuki no mokugeki soraga nokotte iru matsuge.

My favorite translation attempt, admittedly utterly hard given i know nothing about Japanese, translated back and forth with multiple engines, looked for expressions and for the synonyms more accurate and sounding the best, trying to avoid English-like words like Rabu = a Japanese interpretation of the word love, which to my horror, often appear in translation engines. The translation ends up not being a Haiku sadly.

'Remains' is a keyword, a wish of success that's undying.

That’s beautiful, Rexi! ❤️ Thanks for the kind words, btw. So good to read you! Look forward to hopefully reading more from you!

I never would have imagined hearing the words 'Good to read you', is it Christmas again?
Thank you!

Is it okay if I bring this thread back to life? <3 ;P here is a poem I started on this past year (but haven't gotten around to finishing)

appalachian alien

i redirect the fishes
swimming underneath my skin,
and i just
can't
quite figure out
which galaxy i'm in.

there's a vibration of mosquitoes
outside the screen door--
vying for a taste of blood
that i surely can't afford.

moonshine and make-believe
very quickly lose their sparkle.
i long for the mothership
but have nothing left to bargain.

I would love to read others' poetry here. Please share!

One of my more recent poems.

Serendipity written 8.2.21. as the snow fell …

Shadows flicker

Candles burn

Molten wax

Half filled urn

A gentle touch

Shivering

Two lovers wrapped

She holds Him.

Snowflakes drifting

To the ground

Frozen mountains

Puget Sound

Cosy cabin

In the woods

Sweet emotion

Understood.

Measured steps

Taking time

Takes no effort

Needs no rhyme

Strumming softly

Words so clear

Music drifting

Atmosphere.

Stratospheric journey

Projection unknown

Cupid’s aim, perfection

Lover’s Twilight Zone

Protective heart

She covers Him

Dice lands assuredly

Bound as one together

Sweet Serendipity

very pretty imagery

One lone bird
In a darkening sky
Tears well up
At the sight of it

I take it you are looking for
Some water, buccaneer?
Without your fear
Come let's jump in
The mothership, oh my, oh dear
I kid you not, it's already here!

Technically if you have a water planet, you can release your fish under your skin and let them swim freely, if that would do them any good. Kinda like off-leash dog parks. Btw, thats a smol mothership, we get compressed. It looks like a wormhole or portal. xD Maybe we get sucked in.

“Soft Spot”

This poem is a tribute to my plushies and stuffed animals

In a time of my worst fears, you are waiting in my room
Sitting on my bed with embroidered smiles
When I pet your heads and hold you close to my chest
I am happy

Cats, bears, unicorns, cryptids and more
When I open those doors, it’s comfort galore
Weighted, fluffy and silky alike
Be it thunder or snow, you are all there on stormy nights

You plushies are my best friends
Everything will be alright

Yes I live in fear!
For I've seen the cracks as they appear
I've gazed beyond the lifting veneer
On a different person year after year

And as these wakeful dreams expand
It's you that guides me by the hand
It's you that forces me to stand
In the desert of life
On ever shifting sand

You're the owner of thoughts of the darkest kind
Thief of the body
Thief of the mind
Weaver of destinies so entwined
That only a bullet can cut the strings that bind

Fiddle-de-dee, Fiddle-de-dee,
The fly has married the bumble bee.
Says the fly, says he,
"Will you marry me,
And live with me,
Sweet bumble bee?"

Says the bee, says she,
"I'll live under your wing,
And you'll never know
That I carry a sting."
Fiddle-de-dee, Fiddle-de-dee,
The fly has married the bumble bee.

So when the parson
Had joined the pair,
They both went out
To take the air,
Fiddle-de-dee, Fiddle-de-dee,
The fly has married the bumble bee.

And the flies did buzz,
And the bells did ring -
Did ever you hear
So merry a thing?
Fiddle-de-dee, Fiddle-de-dee,
The fly has married the bumble bee.

And then to think
That of all the flies
The humble bee
Should carry the prize.
Fiddle-de-dee, Fiddle-de-dee,
The fly has married the bumble bee.

Legacy

Trying to be what I wanna be
But I f****d myself, my legacy
Father was a soldier,
He did his nation proud
Grandad in secret
Fought the evil kraut

Mother dropped to
Take care of her family at 18
40 years later she got her degree
Bouncing from House to House
Feeling oh so lonely,
The life of an army brat

Brother went forth as an EMT
Saving lives and following his dreams
Made As and Bs and all his needs
Friendship and misery followed it seems
He quick to recover; He knows what to do
Ready to run those awful bullies through

Meanwhile I'm just this childish man
With dreams and ideas, grains of sand
A head full of s**t I don't understand
Why he chose me for his evil plan

First it was the FBI,
Then the rangers, followed by
A military soliloquy
All the while wondering why
Maybe it's psychology(intentional mispronounciation to rhyme with why)
Still I'm left wondering why
What am I to do?

Maybe,
Maybe,
Maybe I don't understand

The legacy of our family is one of pride
Of service and duty and yet still I try
Still I try to achieve my dreams
Whatever the f**k that means

Slow down, slow the f**k down
Need to slow the f**k down
Take your f*****g foot off the accelerator(95!)
No, down to the metal, I don't give a damn
Turn is coming up, slow down, slow down,

One two Three
How the f**k did I end up upside down
How the f**k did I end up upside down
Upside down
Slow the f**k down!

Note: Poem is supposed to sound like something outta metal genre of music

SEEING BEING

Not-Auts know Auts by what they are not,
Auts know they are not just not.

Auts know Auts by what their being is,
Not-Auts know that not.

Not-Aut NT being is average & common,
Auts know their beings are NT not.

Auts know Not-Auts by their know nots,
Not-Auts aught to not Not.

Of full true being, they know it not,
Seeing "being" is what "is" is ! !

It is not Nots ! !

dogwood

white blooms recline lazily until urgent winds begin to
blow. far too early for goodbyes but
it seems like yesterday
the frost was nipping forbiddingly at our buds and
we were pleading for charity from the sun.

Thanks! It actually wasn't intended to be pirate-y, but I'm really amused that it was interpreted that way! Maybe I subconsciously did this haha
