Here is my living room, Love, love, love the eighties and was fortunate enough to get my hands on all the old 80's tunes!

I've been in other bands. It never worked out. Every band I went into, there was one person who wanted me to leave immediately. It was mostly because I was a girl playing metal guitar. Also my mannerisms didn't help and I am not very thrashy and animated. One person kicked me out for not showing enthusiasm even though I learned all the songs and showed up to practice. I don't have resentment for that though because I didn't really bother to tell anyone at that time about my difficulties because I was still thinking that I would just grow out of it. Nope. Still hasn't happened.

If I were to join another band it would be with musicians who like electronic music and wouldn't mind having a robo theme.

i was in a rock band, but i too had a problem with the 'not animated enough/not showing enthusiasm' thing....and wound up being booted too...i feel your pain there, except instead of persevering, i just gave up completely, and never joined another band (really bad with criticism). now i am just looking at experimenting with making my own stuff for me and to heck with everyone else...lol.

I used to dream of being a manga artist, but that'll never happen. What really makes me sad is that I love to do art, but my work never amazes people. It's always "that's good", never "wow!".

i know exactly how you feel on that...i always thought i was better than i was. i only recently discovered (or rather accepted) the fact that in high school i was only considered 'average' in my skills and nothing special. with of course, the exception of a few well done paintings...well, maybe just one.
but what i am trying to learn is that it doesn't really matter at the end of the day whether or not your art is great. if you enjoy doing it, that should be why you do it. you can't rely on the praise of others to determine what you do or don't do. and yeah. i still get upset with my family/friends if i don't get a "wow" response. and i HATE when they point out only the flaws.
just remember to keep doing what you enjoy...and try to do it for yourself. and praise yourself for doing it well. sometimes we just have to pat ourselves on the back because no one else will.

Thank you. I feel better now. I may not be the next Michaelangelo, but I'll keep doing art because I have fun with it. :)

i'm glad to hear that...it took me a long time to come to that realization myself, and i still struggle with it anytime i go near my supplies...but i have to force myself to try. and funny thing is, once i do, i'm really happy i did. i just rarely show anyone any more...and probably won't until i'm a little more comfortable with myself as 'the artist'. if you want to talk more about it, pm me sometime...
