"Clamp is an all-female manga team, whose shoujo works have often been made into anime. The group started out as a twelve-piece, but now consists of four members: Ageha Ohkawa (b. 2/5/1967, the main scriptwriter), Mokona Apapa (b. 16/6/1968, the main artist and character designer), Tsubaki Nekoi (b. 21/1/1969, art assistant) and Satsuki Igarashi (b. 8/2/1969, art assistant). The original team also contained Tamayo Akiyama, Leeza Sei, Sei Nanao, Soshi Hishiki, Kazue Nakamori, Shinya Ohmi, O-Kyon and occasional guests. The serials from the early period include 'Derayd' and 'Cluster'. "

They also have several manga that have hit it big in the US. X, Chobits, Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, but my personal fav and underdog is xxxHolic. That's where the picture came from by the way, and her name is Yuuko.

I also like James Gurneys's Dinotopia paintings. They are so clear and real in appearance, and yet scintillating and dreamlike.

My favorite artist is the one who painted a picture of my beautiful Lynx point Siamese girl, Samantha.

All I know about Dali is that he hated Giraffes with a passion; to the extent that he once burned a model of one in central park. 8O

Jackson Pollock. Yes, I couldn't distinguish one of his paintings from some psychopath who attacked a canvas while covered in paint, but you know that every time you pass one of his at a museum your head will turn.

A contemporary artist I'm rather digging at the moment is Darren Waterston. He did the cover for the Carnavas by the Silversun Pickups. check it out: http://www.darrenwaterston.com/recentwork.shtml

Thank you very much. The human imagination never ceases to amaze me. I stare at pictures of his paintings, and think 'how the hell does someone come up with that?'

I feel the same way, his ideas are truly original. I think he was heavily influenced by WW2 and postwar Poland. I also love the depth of his painting, all the layers and different textures, it looks like it would take so much time!

At the amateur level I'm at now, I would end up crying if I attempted to put that much detail in my paintings.
