I'm not really a fan of anything country, typical whiny 'emo', happy hardcore or the so-called R&B played frequently on the radio.

Um, I beg to differ. The only style of Jazz that I like is Jazz fusion from the 70s because it primarily uses synthesizers AND it blends Jazz with Funk(which I Totally dig). But for the most part I detest Jazz because other than Jazz fusion it is entirely major key and obnoxiously upbeat and has zero potential for being dark and brooding.

Hmmmm...Music has been so much a part of my life for a good while.
The only kind of music I will NOT listen to is hard/punk rock (what's with all the screaming?), Salsa - it all sounds the same to me, and gangsta rap. Actually, the style of music that's considered R&B today, really isn't. The Brandy/MaryJ Blige/Beyonce clones all sound the same and NONE of it is original or creative.

I'm very much a jazz lover - except the KennyG style commercial crap. (Other true jazz artists hate KennyG, too!) And yes, there are MANY types of jazz. "Jazz" is the umbrella. I love Acid Jazz. I also love Gospel Jazz. Used to sing classical as a teen and played violin. There is more music that I like than I hate.

"Good stuff" is different for each person. In my opinion, all the "good stuff" is eurodance and made during or after the 90s.

...I'm guessing you're not at all familiar with Miles Davis or any of his contemporaries? Or Acid Jazz of the 80s and 90s.

1950's Jazz, I'm sick of hearing my grandpa play it.

Hard Core metal, not all heavy metal. It makes me twitch and stimm.

Common misconception - 'hardcore metal' is not a genre.

And gangsta rap is criminally underrated!
