I went back to flowers today. I had a bad beginning. We all had those days we feel a bit more autistic and cluttered and uneasy. So I went back to a subject that makes me feel better and drew a Purple Lotus. Purple is my favorite color and I like flowers with long pointed petals that are waxy to the touch. So today's flower piece is a purple lotus with a blue background for water and the lilly pad shaped leaf behind it for emphasis.

This is my visual representation of evil. If you're Christian, you could call this a depiction of Satan.

Most artists have tended to represent evil as monstrous or seductive, but I for one believe that the scariest and most effective villains are the ones who don't give off any such ostensible signs of their evilness but instead masquerade as good. They're the people who trick you into sympathizing with their cause and so can accomplish more than villains who flaunt their wickedness for everyone to see. To name only one example, they may be power-hungry politicians who give lip service to ideals like liberty, equality, or law and order. For this reason I decided to represent evil as a cute, chibi-looking purple fairy. Although the purple skin color and lack of facial features was intended to make her ethnically nondescript, I made evil feminine to play with the chivalric stereotype of women as naturally nurturing and innocent (a stereotype which has ironically served to justify patriarchy that kept women in the home with the kids).

^^^ lines, shading detail - perfect! That's no amateur work there, even if it IS cutesy anime stuff.

I finished playing dragon age origins awakening (I finally killed the mother, the ending was not as fun as the ending of origins. I think my obsession just sort of died a little in that regard). I am struggling for subjects but I like skulls and flowers so I made a painting using both. I called it Sleeping, because it was the first word that came to mind, really.

Mirror, I'd love to see more of your shots that was taken with a camera (or do you have anything that wasn't painted?). I really liked them.

I do photography as well. I have not had the chance to take new shots recently. A. I kept forgetting my little digital camera at home and B. When I have had it, I have not found anything I wanted to shoot or the shot did not cover what I wanted.

Here are some of my favorite shots:

That's the point. I was actually redrawing something I did a while ago to see how much I've improved.

Thanks!

That picture is from a six-shot series I called "My Point Of View". I am not sure if i succeeded, but I wanted to show an autistic perspective to how I see the world while I am a passenger of a car. The shots included two truck stops, a worker, machinery on the road and the water bottles. Which I loved because the car was in motion and the water in them was making wave-like movements. After staring at them for a while I realized this would be a great shot and actually captured the water dancing inside the bottle.
