'Son of a Witch', the sequel to 'Wicked' by Gregory Maguire. Didn't like 'Wicked' at all, so didn't think I'd like this one. It's better but not by much. It rips off much better good vs. evil fantasies such the LOTR and the Harry Potter books, but fails. Maguire isn't nearly as creative or intelligent as many other fantasy writers and it shows. I find myself thinking how even Clive Barker is vastly superior in this genre. I am unable to finish a book, once started, so even if I don't like it I'll keep reading. It's a compulsion to know the ending that keeps me going...

I read Kafka's "The Bridge" today. I wish I'd had more time to analyze the symbolism.

I'm trying to read three books at once and take breaks with a book of poetry.

Caliban's Hour by Tad Williams
The Dragonbone Chair by Tad Williams
Shadowmarch by Tad Williams

And the book of poetry is Ariel by Sylvia Plath.

The Man Who Made Lists, by Joshua Kendall. It is the story of Peter Mark Roget, the man who compiled Roget's Thesaurus.
