Thanks HighLlama. :) I like Friday I'm in Love too. Listened to so much music today. It makes the world go round sometimes.

Absolutely! Were you a fan of the Cure growing up? England has produced so many great bands and songwriters. I think it would have been fun to experience bands like the Cure, Smiths, or Blur there, as they happened. What else did you listen to today?

One of the songs I put on a mixed tape I made for my wife when we were dating after we'd spent 12 hours together non-stop from morning until night on a beautiful summer day walking around, strolling through parks, eating at restaurants, and sitting on park benches talking.

The mixed tape is very sweet, Magna. Where did you meet your wife, if I may ask?

That's so nice!

I fell in love with a guy from work as well. We eventually dated after years of wanting to be together.
This is all I remember from our mixed tape:

oh, and this:

Yeah it does seem England has had a lot of great music in the modern era. I did like The Cure from around age 17 when I found out about them, I used to watch a TV music channel with alternative rock. The emotion in their songs resonates with me. I like a few Smiths and Blur songs too, my favourite Blur one is Country House because it's funny and moving.

The songs I listened to today mainly were:

George Ezra - Paradise (I kept repeating this over and over! It reminds me of the feeling you get when you develop a crush for someone)
Kylie Minogue - Stop Me From Falling
The Stone Roses - Elephant Stone
Coldplay - Viva La Vida
Wet Wet Wet - Love is All Around
Elton John - Love Lies Bleeding
Baby Bird - Cornershop

Of course...now I recall this song, Magna. I do have this album. That's what happens when you get old and have to work and can't devote yourself to music as much as you once did :) I love the bit with the strings at the very end--how they only added them at that part.

I have this album, it's one of my all time favorites.

For my paternal grandmother, Kathleen, who gave me the gift of Simon and Garfunkel at the age of 4.

Grandmother Kay was incredible. Not only is she my genetic link to the Brontë family but she endured a life of loss and pain. She became pregnant on her first date with my grandfather and was disowned by her wealthy parents. She married my grandfather out of necessity, gave birth to my auntie and then within a year delivered my father without knowing she was pregnant. He was born at home extremely premature and she kept him alive in a roasting pan in the oven with oxygen from a welding torch, before going into shock. Grandma Kay taught my father to knit and paint and do macrame, all of which he taught me.

For most of my grandparents' marriage, my grandfather was struggling with extreme depression and social anxiety from undiagnosed autism. He spent entire weeks in bed refusing to speak. They were married 40 years and I was already a toddler when my grandfather deserted the family, vanished and became reclusive in another country to deal with his social phobia. Grandma Kay used this song to console her through the loss, and passed her album along to me. She died broken hearted before my grandfather returned eight years later, and he eventually committed suicide on my 16th birthday.

I love you Grandma, and you inspire me daily.
I'm still baking your cookies, knitting your patterns and singing your songs to this day.
Thank you also for the greatest gift of all, my father, who you raised to be a hero.

(Sorry for the ramble, folks, it's one of those days)
