Cocky Sekhotep is Cocky
Pharaoh Sekhotep of Kametu, my original character from a fantasy story I am determined to write someday, gives off a cocky look. Is "cocky" the right word to use for a woman? Whichever, she's supposed to look excessively confident here.

I imagine Sekhotep to be an adventurous type who prefers sports like hunting, swimming, and sparring with her siblings to sitting on her throne listening to babbling bureaucrats and diplomats. She's also an independently minded woman who doesn't care too much for all the gold-digging and lusty male wannabe-suitors she attracts.

And this is a map of the the world Sekhotep inhabits. Its geography is influenced both by the real ancient world and Robert E. Howard's Hyborian Age as you might discern.

^Oooh, I like the map!

Neon Snowflake

I added the light blue around the snowflake to give it a glowing effect, and put it in a dark background. I used the iOrnament app to give the snowflake perfect symmetry.

Savitri the Hindyan Pirate Queen
The waters of the Hindyan Ocean churn with pirates, and they say Savitri is the mistress of them all. She was born into the family of a Hindyan rajah, but left her native palace's comforts for the freedom and excitement of the high seas, eventually working her way up to their de facto ruler. Now she enjoys connections with pirates and bandits all over the known world thanks to her shrewd diplomacy and princess-like charm which conceals her ruthless nature. However, like most upper-caste Hindyans, Savitri does hold darker-skinned races of humanity in contempt.

I created Savitri with the intention of pitting her against my heroine Sekhotep. I think she would make a worthy villain for the Pharaoh of Kametu to fight.

Am I correct in thinking this is based off the Chinese Pirate Queen, Ching Shih? By the way, have you ever drawn that particular historical figure?

I've never drawn Ching Shih, but the general idea of a female pirate kingpin may have come from her.

^ Maybe you've been asked this before, but have you considered becoming a professional manga artist? They could use someone with your skill!

Sekhotep is Dressed for War
My original heroine Pharaoh Sekhotep of Kametu shows off her toughness in her warrior's costume. The blue helmet she wears is based off the real Egyptian khepresh crown which Pharaohs would wear into battle. Sekhotep is a versatile fighter who has trained with her fists and feet, the sword, the spear, the bow and arrow, and even throwing knives. She doesn’t have much in the way of brute strength, but she more than makes up for that with her cunning and agility.

Thanks!

I've considered it as a hobby, but I still have a lot of work to do. :)

Edit: EWW ugly re size look at original here: http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/ ... 6en0dl.jpg

Being a manga artist is actually VERY VERY hard it helps if you live in japan and get super famous first. Not bashing just being realistic. I think as a hobby it is good. But if you want to branch into art as a career it works better if you try to use realism.

*gets off soap box*

This is my Naiad

A Naiad is a freshwater nymph, while Oceanids are salt-water nymphs. Naiads preside over rivers, wells, springs, brooks and other bodies of fresh water.

This took longer than I thought and coloring it was def harder than I thought (paranoia over ruining it mid coloring plagued me!).

Sekhotep Goes Casual
Another concept art for my original heroine Pharaoh Sekhotep, but this time she’s wearing more casual attire for when she’s not performing her regal duties and has time off. The ball she’s twirling on her finger is indeed a primitive basketball as you might have guessed. Of course it’s doubtful that the real ancient Egyptians ever played basketball, as they wouldn’t have possessed rubber from the Americas, but the beauty of fantasy art is that anything goes.
