Speaking of fantasy set in other worlds, here's some world-building concept art I have for one of my stories:

Image
The Race of Whiteskins
The Whiteskin people of the northernmost regions are the physically largest and strongest of the World’s human races. Their massive and stocky stature helps them preserve body heat better in their native homeland’s icy winters, but it also bestows upon them an unsurpassed brute strength that advantages them in hand-to-hand combat. For this reason many southern nations such as the Arcadians and Elysians have sought Whiteskin warriors as mercenaries for their armies.

Since the cold northerly climate does not favor agriculture, Whiteskins have traditionally depended on hunting, fishing, and gathering for subsistence. In the earliest days they lived in nomadic bands wandering the forests, but more recently many Whiteskins have settled together and organized themselves into larger tribes with elected chieftains. A few Whiteskin tribes have even prospered from trading, raiding, and mercenary service in the south.

The Whiteskins in my world are obviously inspired by Northern Europeans, most especially Germanic peoples like the Norse and Anglo-Saxons, though they also have some Paleolithic Cro-Magnon elements. They pretty much represent all the white people in my world. Who says Western countries must always be the most technologically advanced in fantasy?

Image
The Race of Kushau
The tall and lean, dark-skinned people of Kush take pride in their civilization's antiquity which surpasses that of all other living nations. As they like to boast, they were building colossal temples and tombs back when all the other races still camped in stick huts. Over the centuries Kushau scholars and seers have accumulated a wealth of knowledge with they store in libraries of papyrus scrolls, giving them the most advanced science and mathematics in the known world. Such early and grand accomplishments have given the Kushau a condescending sense of superiority over other cultures, yet they prefer keeping to themselves to military aggression against the so-called lesser races.

The Kushau race draws most of its inspiration from the ancient Egyptian and Nubian civilizations (in fact the name "Kush" comes from another name for Nubia), with maybe a few dabs of medieval Mali in West Africa. The man's hair here is not naturally red but rather dyed with ocher in a Nubian-like fashion.

Also, I get a lot of compliments on my artwork from people who see it in person. However, as I see, it fairs less well online.

That is why I will do a test: I will next create a terrible Sonic OC as a joke, parodying every single Sonic OC in existence. Specifically, the "recolor of Sonic" variety.

Oops. Double posted.

By the way, nice artwork, Brandon. Still, I think you should make your tastes not as narrow as "Dinosaurs and African Humans in a Fantasy Setting." Maybe create a few monsters that are similar to the ones I do. Yes, they are creepy. No, this is not a bad thing when drawing monsters. In fact, it's a good thing. After all, what is a monster suppose to be?

Very nicely drawn, but since Oviraptor was a maniraptoran, we're pretty sure it had feathers like a bird. More like this:

^ I wondered if it should have had feathers as I was drawing it. I must have worked from an old picture. Ah well, it's all practice, isn't it? :D

This one is rather messy, but I love the way it came out. It's part of a six painting series, and this is the first.
