I can't believe I forgot about Morphine! One of my favorite bands. A lot of their music is very moody, melancholic in nature.

A short list...

"Cure for Pain"
"Free Now"
"Like a Mirror"
"In Spite of Me"

Here's a video of one of my favorites, "The Saddest Song."

Another good one, "Buena."

A friend of mine was killed by a train back in 05. She was a huge fan of the band Porcupine Tree, and created a group for them on MySpace. Someone in the group contacted Steven Wilson of the band notifying him of her death. On their last album, Fear of a Blank Planet, they wrote a song in memory.

Here's some pictures of Danielle:

this picture was taken on the day of the incident:

Here's the video for the song (directed by Lasse Hoile):

I didn't know Tom Waits is supposed to sound sad. He has a sad voice but are the melodies he chooses really that sad? I thought all the stuff I posted was pretty sad sounding in terms of melody and instruments. I guess I just go more for instrumental sadness. The lyrics don't have to be sad for a song to sound sad to me.

Oh, quite so ! ! His gravelly voice makes his sad songs quite mournful. He has one, "A Soldier's Things" that is very sad indeed.

This is the saddest song I have ever heard (and like), I have a hard time holding myself together when I listen to it :|

The Fray - How to save a life, the people in this video have lost a loved one to suicide, some hold up photos, etc, and I think it has to be one of the saddest songs ever

How I feel most of the time :x
