Believe what you want, but Biffy Clyro are still not metal. Namedropping Metallica as an influence doesn't mean anything, there are much better bands out there than Biffy Clyro.

Well I listened to that song and it's more Hard Rock than Metal.

Metal isn't anger-based, honestly. Death, thrash, grindcore, and in some cases sludge and black metal? Yeah, mostly that stuff.
Here's some songs that aren't:
Eluveitie - A Rose For Epona: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1lXdLus2WI
Stratovarius - Alpha & Omega: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRQHZDQ7RSY
Korpiklaani - Vodka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7kJRGPgvRQ
Jorn - Bring Heavy Rock to the Land: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssPsMmAriwQ
The Ghost Inside - Engine 45: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzS5-AjJ71E (met 'em )
Black Veil Brides - Knives and Pens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEb3GQqdHD4
Ensiferum - Burning Leaves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNfhbolYEWI
Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaSYvvfzYaE
How about Christian metal? Lol
Holy Blood - The Spring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zMebgvMsIg
Stryper - Calling On You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PT2Zb97KXc&feature=plcp
Emery - Walls: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qW9_cklGbOg (met those guys earlier this year ;D)
Flynn - I Am Leonidas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiPjZcGnce0
Mortification - God Rulz: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHM3MfqPrGE
Sacred Warrior - The Flood: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_5uMHC7dNU
Okay enough bands lol. you get the point
Black Veil Brides offend me, they have no connection to metal either

Quite frankly, this theory of "poser metal" offends me. Post-hardcore originated from metal and punk and was influenced by metal, and uses scale and song formulas of metal. They also use glam metal as well, which also originates from metal. I think it's metal ;D

It is metal, just lame commercial metal. Kinda like newer All That Remains, American capitalist by Five Finger Death Punch and Bullet for My valentine. The worst of the popular metal bands would be that "deathcore" crap though, horrific vocals over music anyone with a C tuned guitars and a double kick pedal can make.

Once again, I hate this "poser metal/mainstream metal/commercial metal" stuff. Yeah, there are a lot of mediocre -core bands out there, but just because a band's style ends in core or they are mainstream doesn't mean that they suck automatically.

I know that much; I love Trivium (Shogun especially) and Disturbed. Most commercial metal bands aren't as high of quality is my point.

Contrary to popular belief, I think all these bands are high quality, much higher quality than people give them credit for:
Attack Attack!
As Hell Retreats
As I Lay Dying
Avenged Sevenfold
Black Veil Brides
Crossfade (more alt rock but oh well)
Demon Hunter
The Devil Wears Prada
Falling in Reverse
The Ghost Inside
Gideon
Miss May I
A Plea For Purging
Skillet (everything before Awake, Awake was extremely mediocre and disappointing considering their past releases)
Suicide Silence
Trivium
Underoath
Whitechapel

Attack Attack does crabcore...hilarious to watch, but horrific music.
As I lay Dying always just struck me as a less talented version of Killswitch Engage...but their vocals are better overall. (Although I prefer Jessie's singing over their singer)
Avenged Sevenfold: Also sellouts. Their first 3 albums actually had a lot of potential, but they were always marred by very nasally vocals. Now they don't do anything interesting on their instruments like they used to...shame knowing how Afterlife's isntrumental is.
Crossfade's first album was great, but I think they lost what made them unique after the turntablist left (make jokes on that if you want.) We All Bleed seems significantly better than their second album though, a lot of pain went into the lyrics.
Demon Hunter is phenomenal, I have nothing bad to say about them. Great vocals/lyrics.
Devil wears prada: They have some of the worst vocals and some of the most boring instrumentation in metal I have ever heard. They are almost as bad as Emmure. However, they have some good taste in artwork, proof being their working with Dan Seagrave. They would likely do better as graphic designers.
Miss May I is atrocious screamo.
Suicide Silence has some of the worst vocals I have ever heard in a metal band...and no, I don't care that their vocalist died. I will still say that he was a poor vocalist. he may have been good in other aspects, but music wasn't one of them.
Underoath: Some of the biggest dman sell outs I ever heard of. Going from progressive death metal to horrible screamo....just screw 'em. Waste of talent entirely.
Whitechapel is another case of horrible vocals making me unable to notice anything else in the band. I've heard they are crappy deathcore, though.

Honestly, some of what you said is accurate - however, all of those bands have some instrumental talent, quite frankly. Even with bands whose music is very very veryyyy mediocre and unoriginal, if they are playing an instrument decently, there is generally still a little bit of talent quality there

Wolfmaster, with as many good bands as there are out there, why waste time on crap? I am able to tolerate no more than 1 issue per band, and as a result I have a library for 150-200 bands that I love (hard to get an exact measure as I don't have a CD form them all yet.)

Lol, because I enjoy it. Granted that -core is not stuff I spend a lot of time listening to, I still enjoy it and go see the bands when I can.
What bands DO you listen to?
