I want to suggest that Schopenhauer was an aspie based on this essay:

Correct. Jesus Christ, people. It's possible to possess a character trait without it being a symptom of a neurological condition.

While Newton I agree on, I do not think Einstein had Asperger's. I have read several biographies, and he was actually quite social (during his college years at least), and very popular and charismatic with women.

What about the mathematician Paul Erdos? I never see him on these supposed "aspie lists" and yet he seems to exemplify the symptoms from the two biographies I read about him.

I get lots of women, and I definitely have AS. When you're really good looking and have an IQ over 150, it's not hard to be charismatic or to get women, even if you have AS. Einstein was definitely an aspie.

If Jack White is on the list (not without reason), then you should put Meg White as well. She's really shy, has a strange (albeit sweet) smile, doesn't talk (even when she's asked to, she speaks as little as possible and prefers Jack to do it for her), and when they gave a concert here, she wouldn't look at the audience, she would just look down at her drums, or at Jack when he went to where she was. And at the end she didn't know what to do or how to say goodbye or go out (while everybody wanted her to give them a handshake), it took Jack to literally sweep her off her feet and carry her all the way out.

This was in 2005 (like, 1 day before Jack got married in Brazil) so they were no amateurs.

awesome :O

you forgot to mention that Meg White is hot

lol tis neat :P

"The creator and writer of the series, John Rapsey, said it was clear even then that Ledger, then a 16-year-old sports champion and high school dropout, possessed an unusual talent.

"He himself had absolutely no problem playing the role. He handled all of that with great aplomb," Rapsey told AFP.

"What was noticeable about him was he was concentrated, very quiet, and you could see that he was really observant of other people.""(-observant of details/quiet...concentrated/passion)

Did he have aspergers?

signs -
-antisocial
-Recently being called an artist on tv etc... and John travolta called him his favourite actor
-Played differeing roles.
-took anxiety and sleep medication...

hmmm just thinking aloud... i wonder if he has speech problems when younger... lol.....
Yea just suggesting havent done HUGE research on it.. EH."

lol from http://www.wrongplanet.net/postxf54523-0-15.html

yip well... no research to back up... he was different so they tell me :D haha

I'm not sure if ES had Asperger's. Even though he talked for hours on the same subject often (spending hundreds of hours talking about his album From A Basement on a Hill), obsessively read guitar chord books as a kid, and had very obsessive, perfectionistic qualities, he did express his emotions in a really open way on his songs. But wait...yeah I think he was one.

After reading the book about him (the new one, not the old one), I'm pretty sure Elliott Smith was an Aspie. All the signs were there.

I've read Gene Roddenberry suggested before. It would explain how Mr. Spock was created. The Vulcans were closer to us than Data or the Borg. Someone had inside info, whether they knew it or not.

And for my part, the Borg were psycopaths, not AS.

I kind of wonder about Buster Keaton (one of my obsessions is vintage American film, esp. silents, and esp. comedy, and I adore Keaton and learned everything I could about him. So I know something about this). Yes, he did have a monotone voice, and yes he was definitely backwards socially (somebody remembers him in late middle age at a party, sitting around flipping through a magazine... which is actually the type of thing I've been known to do). Plus he definitely had obsessions - things like trains and card playing were all-consuming to him (and you did NOT want to play bridge with the guy for money, 'cause you would lose, lose, lose). The NTs of silent cinema (the Talmadge sisters and their pals - he was married to Natalie Talmadge for over a decade) found him rather quirky and strange. On the other hand, his deadpan expression was only for film - there are photos of him being animated. He hid a lot behind his humor, but I don't think that has anything to do with being an Aspie. Tough call on that.

Chaplin, I don't think so. He had issues but I doubt they were AS related.

The surprise here (for those of you who know silent cinema) is Harold Lloyd, who came across on film as the all-American boy. He was definitely quirky and obsessive off camera, and would go through phases (breeding Great Danes, stereoptic photography... my dad was actually in a camera club with him, when my dad was young and Lloyd was an old man). He did appear friendly but there was something about him that was strangely detached and he didn't really have close friends. But he was also perfectly happy about that, like he didn't really need close friends. He may have had mild AS.

Just my thoughts on this.

-J.

I just thought of Elizabeth Taylor, what does anyone think about her? Highly intelligent, spontaneous, quiet, an equestrian, addicted to many things which spun her out of control, anybody think she'd fit in the spectrum ?

I even read on a site yesterday that a hitler was supposed to be an Aspie. 8O If he is, I opt out.

Unbelieveable.

Just jump on the Aspie bandwagon. Plenty of room. :x

Adolf Hitler had Anti social personality disorder--not Asperger's. He lacked the ability to feel remorse, sympathy etc., abilities which people with Aspergers has. He was also very charismatic. ASPD coombined with a traumatic childhood, is what caused Hitler to become a psycopath. ASPD is heradatory, so I think his father also had it.

Its my understanding that Hitler was (manic-depressive)Bipolar, and he may very well have been Schizoaffective. He did have a traumatic, abusive childhood and was unsuccessful at being an artist which was his first life goal.
