I've been getting back into metal lately. My favourite metal albums (not including nu-metal and industrial metal):

1. Khanate - Things Viral
2. Type O Negative - Slow, Deep and Hard
3. Earth - 2
4. Khanate - Khanate
5. Opeth - Orchid
6. Napalm Death - Scum
7. Neurosis - Enemy of the Sun
8. Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction
9. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
10. Enslaved - Vikingligr Veldi
11. Dream Theater - Images and Words
12. Metallica - Kill 'Em All
13. Metallica - Master of Puppets
14. Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark
15. Neurosis - Souls at Zero
16. Venom - Welcome to Hell
17. Gorguts - Obscura
18. Today Is the Day - Sadness Will Prevail
19. Opeth - Morningrise
20. Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley
21. Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
22. Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood
23. Dream Theater - Awake
24. Slayer - Reign In Blood

My metal collection is quite incomplete, though. A few 80s thrash gaps and more recent metal I'm missing out on.

yes! though i'm only into the mainstream stuff really, i don't see why dealing with those millions of genres and all the new acts and all that kind of thing is worth it.

I cant say I like it on the whole, but I do like the opening theme from Death note (the later series). It makes me all hyper!

Just type 'Death note theme 2 full' into Youtube's search and enjoy.

P.S It's in Japanese/English and I did try to put a link but it didn't work...

I'm a big metal fan. But it has to be good metal, not just random screaming and loud guitar. Once I saw this band called Suicide Silence, and they were awful. I only like good metal like Black Sabbath or Metallica or SOAD.

Yes! I really love some classic metal. Megadeth, Queensryche, Maiden, Priest, Dream Theater, Dokken, etc. Any fans of melodic and/or power metal should check out Kamelot. They are AMAZING. I can't get on YouTube now but check out "The Haunting" and "The Human Stain."

Love it. My current favourite bands are Marilyn Manson, System of a Down and The Vines. Already seen the first 2 but am waiting for the Vines to come back and tour the UK again (since I never heard of them when they did it last, back in 2001/2 or something).

I also have to say I am really disappointed in Metallica's attitude, and the attitude seems to have seeped into their performance. I used to love them but since they became millionaires they just started sucking balls so hard. I saw them at Milton Keynes back when they were good and they rocked, then I saw them at Donnington after they made millions and they sucked.

Yea man, money can change people into something they wasn't before. their new album just
doesn't have that kick as their early albums did. its just too commerical for my taste.
however, the day that never comes is a pretty awesome song.

Kiss metal?! They come across more as a parody on metal, like comedy hardrock or so. At most glamrock. I cannot imagine many die hard metal fans would take Kiss seriously...

Kiss, AC/DC and Deep Purple are better classified as hard rock than heavy metal. This book explain things well: http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Definitive- ... 581&sr=8-9

I've been listening to a lot of Van Canto recently, which is a German A Capella metal band. They've done covers of Nightwish's Wishmaster, Metallica's Battery, and others. I also like Metallica, AC/DC, all the usual 80s guys. A more complete list when I'm not so groggy, metal was the music of my teens.
