the fact you have no replies for this is evidence of the lack of true musicality in this particular thread.
no need to respond but i watched your videos and i was very impressed.

i do not want any response to what i just said thankyou.

i did not mean to make you feel whatever that emoticon means (which looks unpleasant).

i was rather annoyed that night about a number of things and i was ill considered when i posted that.

this thread contains many excellent pieces.

one contributing factor to my post was that there was another thread where people were posting videos of what they were currently listening to, and genius level videos were not commented on, and they were instead followed by posts of untalented video responses, and those responses were likewise un-commented upon. i thought " this is just a scramble for everyone to show the music they like, and no one is appraising any other post".

that made me slightly annoyed, and i posted what i posted with reduced judgement. i am sorry and i retract what i said.

That was an embarrassed emoticon because I don't like being complimented at the expense of other people.

I do see where your frustration lies. I put these videos on youtube, and it seems as if there's some video of a "talking dog" or "fat man falling" that gets much higher view counts. I know I put more effort into my projects than those people, but that's nothing that either you or I can change about humanity. I just take comfort in knowing that the "fat man falling" is not generating much income from his little blunder, whereas I use my videos as an advertising tool. I'm a freelance musician and I show those videos to people to get teaching gigs. So far it's working, because I don't have the financial problems that others are struggling with.

That's a great idea. I hadn't thought of using youtube to fatten/strengthen my teaching portfolio. For me it's dumping ground for whatever latest sound creation I've come up with. I posted "Quantum Spring," which for me was a test of some of my ideas for creating a certain kind of music a certain way, and I thought it was a "nice" piece if not my best effort. It's never really a very good idea to keep a still image up throughout a piece like this, and the pieces I'm composing now use Hubble images to accompany the track. I lean on the harsh side of things, and when I tested my latest piece out on my wife, she noted that the overall effect was completely different than the grinding electronic mush she'd been used to hearing (and hating).

I also think that this particular thread is taken for granted and the lack of comment (positive OR negative) is discouraging. One gets more immediate response posting directly in the forum in new threads. "Musicians' Showcase" seems to me more "ok, here's my work--don't care if you watch it or not" and comments are only forthcoming if the post is especially spectacular. And there ARE some pretty amazing things in here.

Internet is a great free marketing resource. When I want one or two new students, I can just advertise on craigslist and post a link to my youtube channel. My channel has many of my students and it has some of my own playing, so it gives everyone a good idea of what to expect from me. If you're advertising on a free-for-all place like craigslist, you need something that sets you apart so people know you're just not another scamming chump.

Just a little something I am working on, since I finally finished Making my amplitube 3 presets and such. Its just some of the raw, unedited/uncleaned up guitar track. Going for a metalcore feel to things though, so it may get a bit repetitive. It is also a mp3 file ya have to download, really dont feel like making it into a youtube vid, no time for that.

Hi Demon

Just checked out your riffage

nice tone. hope to hear some full tracks when youve got some up and ready

I have a modelling amp for my tones nowdays... so many choices, can be pretty counter-productive for me

(flicks some devil signs)

thx

well, took me forever to dial in the tone I was looking for to say the least, so many combinations able to be done in amplitube 3. I would't call it counter-productive, but there is most definitely an overwhelming number of choices.

I am playing the theme to Moon in this video. This was the first proper song I could play on the piano. I began playing piano last summer out of boredom. I play at least 20 minutes a day. Now, I'm not as good as most of you piano players on here, but I fancy myself quite good for only having a year's worth of experience. And since I'm big into minimalism, I rarely have issues with playing my favorite songs or making my own.
Just goes to show that you can get good at anything at any age, you just need to be insanely devoted to doing so.

Usually I only listen to and play my own original songs on guitar. Here is one of the rare covers I do of other peoples' material.

It's been about a year and a half since I last recorded a cover version of the Beatles song Help!, the title track of their 1965 film and album of the same name. Here is my latest effort, recorded a short time ago today. My cover is pretty faithful to the original arrangement. I mostly play the rhythm guitar parts played by John Lennon in the original, but also play the descending triplets of notes between chord changes and the distinctive descending lead guitar riff played by George Harrison in the choruses. Also, after the ending of the Beatles arrangement of the song, I add an extra verse more of an instrumental arrangement I came up with inspired by the Beatles song.

The Bicycling Guitarist plays Help! June 11, 2011

My band playing "Margaritaville" at a class reunion. At the start of the video I'm coming out of a positively face-melting keyboard solo (haha). At :53 you'll get a good shot of me and my keyboard rig. Just bought a Korg X50 and this was my first gig with it.

This is my problem. I love writing classical style music but I cannot read music. It's like it's blocked completely. But I get the patterns. Here's a song I worked on after discovering Debussy again.
