Little known fact, Jim Morrison wrote stairway to heaven, he gave the song to RP after he visited jim while he was on tour in Los angeles in 1971

Here's a early rare doors performance of the song, Led Zeps biggest hit was actual penned by the Lizard King:

Also RP & JM got into drunk fistfight over who had better voice, better hair, better bod, and ended up being arrested. Rollign Stone covered it in their magazine at the time. All True. All True.

Wish I could have broken up that fight.

Funny I've never been a fan of Stairway, but this is a great version.

Thank you!

I like it sooooo much better than LZ.

I like both versions. It fits The Doors mystique thematically. But LZ is a classic. Dont Like Stairway!!? It's iconic. The lyrics are cryptic, but its still hard rock, the guitar work, the outro verse from RP is great. SO powerful. Give it a chance.
"if you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last."

Meh. LZ's is too repetitive. The same melody over and over. It's OK live but the studio version does nothing for me. Plus it was a lousy song for slow dancing because of the fast part lol.

I prefer their slow songs like Tangerine, All of my Love, Going to California, or The Rain Song -- which I played for my dad in hospital when he was in a coma.

See That's where we differ, I prefer the gritty fast paced hard driving rock songs, where he screaming his lungs out. :) Whole Lotta Love, Communication Breakdown, Dazed And Confused, Immigrant Song, Heartbreaker...stuff like that.

Of course, the screamers. Bring it on Home, Livin Lovin Maid, Good Times Bad Times, Lemon Song, The Ocean, Out on the Tiles. Dazed and Confused -- yessss.

I mentioned the slow ones in comparison to Stairway.

Do you have a source for that? I'm trying to look it up. My guy won't believe me.

Quote from him -

"Lol, what! idk if that's true/real but it's still a very sweet mashup. It sounds like someone dubbed vocals that sound like him over the end of When the Music's Over".

LOL It was practical joke. A Hoax. I didn't know if you fell for it or not. I guess I do now.

I just have a playful sense of humour.
