Something - The Beatles. 1969. Abbey Road. George Harrison hit, that's been covered a gazillion times.

It was also Sinatra's favorite Lennon/McCartney song

^Yeah I know Sintatra covered it almost immediately in the 60's. Alot of people did. That and Yesterday might be the most covered Beatles tracks of all time.

Iggy Pop - Curiosity. I like his 70s albums.

^I was just laughing at how he didn't know it was a Harrison song. It's kind of a running joke with some Beatles fans.

One of the Beatles said Something was their favourite. I think it was Paul?

Good taste in George's lyrics, I might add.

Okay, Lama, yeah i missed that. I know Lennon got pissed when people would tell him they loved his song Yesterday'. Since it was entirely McCartney, it came to him in a dream apparently.

Isabella, It was written during a time when George wanted to get more songs of his own on the albums, (the birth of his solo ambitions i guess,) It was a sleeper hit. Paul was always the studio leader, and next to Lennon, who again had natural presence and command. Harrison might have felt slighted. And Ringo was basically just given scraps, wasn't any kind of creative force.
This was when the internal politics of the band started to change, and of course the final straw came , when Yoko started sitting in on Studio time, and the schism between Lennon/McCartney became irrevocable. McCartney later reconciled, and admitted he had been nasty to Yoko, and said he regretted some of his actions.

I think the success of 'Something,' surprised Paul, and he started to give him Kudos after that. Whether it's his favorite Beatles song, I don't know, I know he said once, "God Only Knows," by the Beach Boys was his favorite song.

I meant favourite Beatles song, but can't remember where I heard it. It was definitely either Paul's favourite or "the band's" favourite. I would remember if it was George or Ringo alone, and it likely wasn't John. Pretty sure it was Paul.

^I think Paul may have said "Something" was his favorite George song. He's also said "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" was his favorite Beatle song. But, he could have change between these two over time.

Yeah, which I can understand from Paul McCartney. I thought George always had some good songs, though, going back to "Don't Bother Me." "If I Needed Someone" is great, too. Steely Dan thought it was good enough to borrow for this song about cults and prejudice (i.e., if you needed someone...):

Lennon song from the same album. Lennon was always my favourite. His attitude. His wry sense of humor, his outspokenness.
