This time a non classical song, I've written it one year ago when I only had one year of musical experience but now I think I was able to make a rather good record
of it. The lyrics are BS, in fact it's a, as I call it, "self delusion" song, it does not and has never expressed what I thought or felt. I just thought it would rather sound like something that sells good in our times. (English is not my mothers language, don't expect too much from my English abilities)

This one is exactly the opposite. I wrote it some time before I wrote the other one, in my first year. It was when I had a bad psychosis. It's still there but now
I found useful medicine against it :)

Check out my channel on youtube! I have over 50 videos on the site of my piano performances, ranging from classical to video game music. Started recording in June and have almost 9000 views, but only 30 subscribers! That number needs to increase!! Sub to my channel today!!

I have been playing piano for 25 years and started when I was 8. Went to university and took piano performance at one of the most prestigious universities in Canada. I just loved going there because I could be weird and no one would judge me for it because a lot of the other musicians were weird too. I have asperger's syndrome.

Here's a link to my channel:

Oh no, please don't do that b9. I love your music and how you play and arrange songs. You've inspired me to get the money and buy myself another piano, a Kawai EP3 digital piano and start playing and writing music again. Thank you. :)

thankyou for reminding me about it. i have now deleted it because it was only a framework, and it was what i would have played as a backing track (sans the percussion and the experimental "guitar" modification ) to the song i was imagining.

i worked in a recording studio for a number of years as an engineer (until i developed a problem with my right ear), and i often was asked to play the piano in rehearsals for tv advertisements as an aside.

sometimes, i would think that the music that they were going to use was of low quality (inferior composition).

one day, the people who were doing an advertisement for a company called "shoe shed" were at lunch, and i was still in the studio and i played what i thought was an interesting idea about their campaign, and the producer (attached to the studio and not to the "shoe shed "company) thought it sounded good, and so i replayed it to the shoe shed people (at the producers insistence) when they got back from "lunch", and they liked it.

but they said that "never the less", they had to plow on with their original format, and i was then assigned another task (working in studio 3)

about 3 months later, i saw a "shoe shed" commercial on TV, and i recognized my song.....
this is it.

and later, (about 6 months or so) i saw that it was being "improved" in later commercials like this.this is

i have to admit that very talented people took my skeleton song to this level, but i am dissappointed that no one cares that i wrote it.
oh well, that is life. i am very glad i can breathe and i will be happy all night for purely that reason.

i was remiss to let the tune into a public domain without any proof of ownership.
that is why i now "hold my cards much closer to my chest".

Ah, they didn't even tell you they decided to use it. It's good that you're holding your cards much closer to your chest. Know your worth b9 and don't forget it. You're a extremely creative and talented man. When I was 12 years old, I taught myself to play the piano by playing Elton John songs in secret because my step-father wouldn't allow me to play the piano, that was for his mother to play only. Later I studied classical piano and voice in college/university so I do know a little bit about music myself. I've been listening to some of your other music today and I love it. :)

i intended it to be written for someone in particular, but once it was completed i didn't think it sounded good enough. anyway i've dedicated songs to people before and interestingly those tunes never ended up being the recipients' favourites!

so i think my new policy is to keep my special people in mind but leave them wondering...

That's great, hyper!

Thanks. :)

I used to, I kinda got sick of it, and gave it up. But recently people have been convincing me to get back into it. It's fun in small doses.

Your production is quite pro sounding, you'll have to give me some tips :-)

 i have no idea what i'm doing but i try. i spend about 3 times as long mastering as i do creating the songs, mostly because my mic is so incredibly crappy i have to do fancy stuff to make it sound okay. i have effects on top of effects. i use ableton (let me PM you something about that).

i used to make electronic music. funny story... i started off uploading to Apple's site GarageBand, which was ultimately shut down... but Apple promised us the equally fabulowonderful site iLike. so my songs rolled over to iLike, and because of some kind of licensing issues I CAN'T LISTEN TO MY OWN MUSIC. british and american people can hear them, but not canucks. the old electronic stuff is here (link)

(i downloaded your songs. i hope you don't mind. they sound kinda trancey to me. this is so eye-opening to hear your stuff!! !!)

In progress? :) Sounds like you're pretty much done with it.

If I may make one suggestion: You have a really cool analog bass thing going. I think the peak frequency on your LPF is pretty high for a bass sound. Cut it to at least half that and MAYBE increase the resonance. You also have this nice arpeggiated 5ths pad thing running pretty constant throughout. I'd say at some point cut it out completely to give yourself a little space in there, OR use a free-run LFO to do some slow and sexy filter sweeps. I really like what you have going on here, and some of the manipulations you have going towards the end of the track were really interesting. Keep it up!

Wow, thanks! High praise coming from you, AngelRho. :)

I agree on the bass, I think I like the texture on the top end, I need to figure that out.

I agree with you re. cutting the pad. The arrangement was done on the fly by muting things in and out and tweaking some lfo rates and filter cutoffs... I really need to figure out how to automate in my software, I'm still getting used to it.

http://www.reaper.fm/ <---- plug

I think some more delays and reverb would be good, and a wee bit of compression.

The manipulation on the synth line at the end was created by changing the oscillator mix on one of my synth plug ins. It creates really rich and interesting modulations. I like economy
