Every time I think of you I feel shot right through with a bolt of blue It's no problem of mine, but it's a problem I find Living a life that I can't leave behind
Bizarre Love Triangle - The Speaks (cover)
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order
I thought I preferred the cover but now I'm not sure. New Order is just so pink (synaesthesia) and it's a very pink song.

S.O.S Band "Just be Good to Me" 1983
I don't think I have synaesthesia, but if i was to classify this ^ song with an overall color it' be blueish purple, songs do have a certain assigned color tone in my mind.
Those watery guitars on the The Speaks version are brown orange. Like a lot of RHCP songs, have a lot of orange to them, In my mind. But some songs can be lime green.

Allison, is a deeply conflicted individual, she wants the attention, but shes scared of people...great movie. Well acted, a psychological character study. I remember when I first watched it, very strong impression. Made me go watch sixteen candles, and st elmos fire.

I have some issues with the movie - Claire hooking up with Bender after he abuses and sexually harasses her - He admits that he'll treat her like crap at school on Monday - The idea that Allison needed to conform and look more pretty to be kissed - The fact that she needed to change into a Claire - Why didn't Claire change into an Allison? - Why didn't the boys change into each other for sexual approval? - Why didn't either of them like Brian? (Suggests nerds aren't even an option)
I wouldn't say Allison wanted attention. She wanted her family to love her for who she was (which is stripped away from her in the end -- poor message)
I never saw / won't watch Sixteen Candles for personal reasons but I liked St Elmo's.
Monkey Man - Stones

I think they call that flirting... I don't remember all the scenes, maybe i missed that. It's been 5 years since I watched it.

Social dynamics in effect. Conformity is a multiheaded hydra.

Yes, that one flaw people have pointed out. Not that a movie is supposed to have Happy ending. Where all loose ends are neatly tied up. It's more realistic when it doesn't.

I guess one of the reasons i checked out the other movies, was apart from the writing, the 'brat pack' mystique, was Molly Ringwald... (yes, I'm weird.) She's not your typical beauty by any conventional standards. But I liked her. (like-like.) Of course i liked everybody else too. Alison was cool in War games. I liked her in that (real hot). Weird Science, I liked Hall in that. Emilio is great in Repo Man, I love that movie. I don't really know what Judd has been in. Apart from St. Elmo (?) But He was the standout character in that film to me. Troubled bad boy from other side of the tracks.
Really it should be Judd and Sheedy hooking up, two disenfranchised outcasts.
The rest I don't know....I'm trying to remember who paired up with who exactly....
Emilio and Claire are a natural match, (maybe a threesome with braniac lol ...but that's not reality)
It would be cool if Molly and Hall hooked up, cause Emilio didn't need anybody, he was a jock, athelete wasnt he? he could get anybody he wanted practically. But that's how it seems to work in real life, the macho guy gets the girls. AND conversely the pretty dolls get the guys.

Yes but they spent all that time to break down social barriers and teach a message about seeing the "real person". Then out of all the characters they made Allison have to change her looks. They undermined their own message by saying she had to be like Claire.
She was just as pretty pre-makeover as after, imo. She didn't even look comfortable after the makeover.
I remember even as a teenager I was really cheesed by that double standard.
I looked like Claire -- the pretty clothes, the squeaky clean image, the red hair and seemingly perfect life. But I acted like an Allison (mute, alienated, no friends, frightened, weird stims, judged). You can imagine how much that confused people when I looked like Claire but acted like Allison.
I'd love to see a remake where Claire and Allison are reversed personalities. Even better if they make Claire dress in black at the end. Even better better if they just let them stay themselves.
I'm not sure why any of them had to hook up with anyone. It was rather heteronormative and defeated the purpose. Maybe they all just wanted to be friends, or be single?
Sorry for crazy analysis but it still bugs me to see Allison treated that way at the end.

Found this...a parody.. from some spoof movie from 2001.
^ That's not crazy analysis . If you want to see some wild analysis, check out Rob Ager, I discovered him like over a decade ago, he's great. He goes into movies, like I've seen nobody go into. This is no Roger Ebert! He's kinda controversial, he leans towards conspiratorial and occult symbolic interpretations. But fascinating nonetheless. He goes over the movies multiple times, multiple passes, and looks for emerging patterns. I don't think hes analyzed Breakfast Club though. He's broke down a lot of other movies though, in great detail.
