I watch a lot of psychology videos on youtube and there are a lot of videos about narcissism. With the critical thinking skills of most people, I can see these videos leading folks to trendy conclusions that aren't true. I don't know that breadcrumbing is a trait unique to narcissism, but if you go looking for info about it, that's where you'll be led.

I don't know that I have any narcissists left in my life, but I do still have breadcrumbers. They maintain contact with the least effort, and avoid actual conversation, sometimes insultingly so. I think they like the idea of being kind to me, so long as it isn't inconvenient. And actually talking to me would be inconvenient. I'm being strung along and ultimately rejected, which is anything but kind.

I saw this posted somewhere, with this still, and I didn't think Genesis ever had a woman in the band, so I watched it. That's Peter Gabriel, and I think he looks fab in this photo! Looks more like Peter Gabriel in the video than is represented by this still, but he still looks fab in the video!

s**t. There was someone in my life who seemed to take my current complaints about the state of my life, and not having known me long enough to know that my life wasn't always like that, and not being curious enough to have asked, seemed to think they could be my best friend with no effort. Made themself out to be a lot like me, which I later learned was BS. But once they learned that there had been other people in my life and that those people had actually put some effort into friendship, they expressed some jealousy, and they lost interest in even pretending to be my friend.

Thing is, they could have been a very important person in my life simply by being willing to talk to me, but they apparently didn't want my admiration that badly lol.

I picture middle class families are like this...American families....no one in my family as ever talked to me or other like that,,,,

And if it was a stranger,took that tone,well they would just be asking for trouble :Like a punch in the eye. That's so over the top.

I guess if that all you knew, surrounded with....you wouldn't know something was off.

I prefer psychology videos on youtube about psychopaths, serial killers. Much more fascinating. The most dangerous type of human. Intraspecies predators. A narcissistic man or woman or child do not scare me, I have more chance being damaged by running into a cycle-path* though.

I know somebody who might like this...

Normally I would skip this. I'd watch GOT 3-4 episodes at a time. (This was a few years after they aired.) Even when a show is airing. And the episodes are trickling out. I'd sometimes wait a few weeks, and just watch them in one big nonstop marathon. I've done that.

I always thought this was a good song. Strong driving energy.

The point of the narcissist videos, other than earning someone some cash, is to help people get out of or avoid narcissistic relationships. Kinda makes me sad that the goal isn't to help the narcissists stop sabotaging their relationships, and the tone of some of these videos makes me sad. If you loved that person, don't you want to help them? Demonizing them may make it possible for you to walk away and save yourself, but what about that other person? Jealousy, the need to control people, and the compulsive need to be admired or feared can't be a happy life. I want better for them.

Worse, lots of people, possibly most, have some narcissistic traits. I fear these videos, offered as pop psychological help, may be convincing people that their friends, family, partners and coworkers are narcissists, when the viewer does not have the expertise to make that determination.
