Not sure what Sandie was doing performing this mid-1960s song in 1973, can't remember it being re-released at that time. I was initially a bit skeptical about the chronological aspect, as she looks a fair bit older here than in her late-60s heyday, but the dancing girls in the audience are definitely early mid-70s, so hey ho...

Here's Sandie Shaw performing 'Puppet On A String' in a joint Anglo-German television production in 1969. She won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 with this song,, the first artiste from the UK to do so. She's singing this in German - can't help wondering how much of that language she actually understood. I remember reading that the British singer Matt Monroe released a huge number of his songs in Spanish, yet he didn't understand a word of it....
