I am a security guard working in a shopping mall. It is not allowed to smoke or park outside of designated areas but the rules are difficult to enforce, because when confronted, the offenders may hit back by filing complains against you to the management office. Yea, a security guard in my country has little power of his own. So, instead of doing what a real security guard should do, we have to placate those 'valued customers' and hope for the best.
My duties also include expelling the elderlies who collects read newspapers from passerbies in the premise. In my country, elderly benefits are terrible, so many old people turn to make a living by collecting used cardboard, newspaper, etc and selling them to recycling companies. Again, the earning is pitiful but it's nevertheless a lifeline for many of them. I think they aren't exactly a pretty sight to look at in a mall, because the management doesn't like them, and so it's my job to keep them at bay. They are the 'easy' one, because they would never file a complain and nobody would care. When you can't beat the powerful you may still find comfort by venting it out on the powerless...I hope it helps you understand my work.
thank you for the response, i understand the comic now in this context.
interesting insight into that society, shame to hear about the lack of elderly benefits over there but, honestly it is not much better here. a lot of them here resort to that same habit, and my own family does that to earn some spare cash on the site.
but back to artwork...
here is "verderd". her basic design has not changed since september, when i drew this, save for some black trim on one of her abdomen parts.
