The most recent thing I've finished. It's an acrylic piece of my youngest son.

Awww, thank you. :-) I love to paint fish because their scales can reflect a multitude of colors. Well, that and I love to fish, lol.

So its 1:30 AM, I was bored and stumbling upon this thread and I decided to upload some of the artwork from my sketchbook. I really need to get back to drawing. Haven't done it for over a month. Some of my artwork also includes my Japanese that I've been working on since Christmas break! :)

right click on the image you uploaded to imgur and select "open image in new tab".

the url on the page you get there, that's the one you want for embedding here. it should have a file extension in the url, like .jpg or .gif.

i did it for you up there ^ just letting you know.

Hi! I'm new to wp, but I love illustrating so thought I'd pop in here and say hi!

I've had a browse through the last few pages and everyone is so talented, I hope my work isn't out of place here!

This is a piece I did not long before I received my ASD diagnosis, weirdly.

did my anti-censorship photo just get censored or was there another reason that it has disappeared? just curious.

First attempt at a hand carved bowl.

Image

Was asked to show it at a garden show with over 20 other master carvers. Was the only one of two that were sold. Felt a little awkward when everyone was asking me how long i had been carving!

^ hey, that's really great.

How do you carve out a rock, if you don't mind me asking?
It looks so smooth.

Thanks Raleigh! :)

Its quit a process, that piece took me about 40+ hours to make.

Firstly i took an angle grinder and created cris cross patterns like a chess board, then used a hammer and chisel to break away the squares. Continued this process till i got to a substantial depth, then used a diamond stone grinder to get more depth and a little smoothness, then it was a matter of using diamond grit polishing pads with water started at 180 grit down to 3000 grit as the final buff. I got the smoothness by touch and sight and could'nt finish until everything was uniformed. Any slight bump would give me a feeling of weight so to speak, when i was happy with the final phase i felt somewhat light, as the best way to explain it... I was rather hyper focused on this piece and it was somewhat meditative... There is a bit of a story behind this piece but as you only asked for how it was made i will not publish a complete biography of said reasoning! lol

i'm curious about the dark color of the interior.

is it the natural color of the rock's inside exposed by the carving process? or it is the carving process itself that made it that way?

painted? finisher? wet?

i want to touch it......... 8O

this is a doodle i made some months ago, which i don't believe i've shared.

No, thats its natural colour! I buffed it with some polishing paste but to be honest it didnt make much difference as i had spent many hours polishing and buffing it down. No its not wet either. All natural and yes it was nice to touch! :)

Also like your doodle :)
