Oh God, I can sort of relate to this! Can't remember who 'Fred Wedlock' was, but there were quite a few of these acts from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s, lol. Another such performer was Mike Harding, the so-called 'Rochdale Cowboy', and there was another guy called Bernard Wrigley ('The Bolton Bullfrog'), who performed similar material and also had a bit part or two in the British soap opera Coronation Street.
