I don’t need a ride to arrive
I don’t feel approached any time
If you feel a fader on a decline
Out of all you’ve ever been
And you won’t need time
You never need time

I don’t need this every God
You see every ghost am I
Have we found a phase to be out of
Transfer all your thoughts to me
And you won’t need love
We don’t need love

I don’t need this sin to go
Down to where all forevers flow
Every fate released is revealed slow
Never talking back to me
Say it out loud
Say it out loud
I feel this cold
I never stay and I never go
I feel this cold
I never stay and I never go
Aah

Prologue:
I like languages, and I like music and writing/reading - and I also like being exposed to things I haven't came across yet, and sometimes new/different cultures. So I enjoy listening to songs in foreign languages, assisted by translation. That's why I think it would be nice if non-speaking aspies here can contribute songs from their own languages, not just English.

I realised this when I tried thinking about songs that relate here, and thought of one of my favourite Israeli artists, if not THE favourite, and thought it's a shame not to put his songs here just because they're not in English - because I feel many of them do relate to AS. They are also somewhat hopeful, and feel like fighting the ignorant world, and people who want to control us, instead of just crying about it (which we all do). He's very famous in Israel, also for his political statements, which are pro-peace, but not the populist easy ones, and he's not afraid to say harsh things about the fascists which rule the country, even against the majority of Israelis (as he wrote once - "not always the majority is right - usually it's dumb"). Anyways, he's very liberal and sounds a bit related to AS when writes about himself. His optimism helps me, and I hope can help others.

If anyone here likes this song and the lyrics, and feels it does relate to AS for him as well - I'll be happy to add more Hebrew songs with my translations, just say so and I'll post more in my language if you're interested. Please post in your language as well!

So here's one in Hebrew:
Mooke/Muki - Don't See From a Meter (seriously, can't translate, Hebrew expression for mad/crazy)
Hope I don't ruin it with my translation.

CHORUS
I can't see from a meter, but I stand
The head isn't alright, I'm not opposing it
A guest just for a minute, and somehow survive
People tell on my face, I'm not around

An inner peace is required, but where will I find it?
A momentary break - I don't want to get out of my bed
Not so much stable, looking around
When will the winter be over, and spring be here?
Everyone's running long distances
The street looks angry, the face expressions empty
They act is if they're tough or soft according to expectations
Buying books that explain how they need to live!
I have love inside me and it will win
I'm staying who I am, don't argue with it
The ones who don't have, won't have, the ones who do just want more
Sometimes my heart breaks but I don't stop dancing

CHORUS

I write, therefore I am, I love, it runs in my blood
I touch the skies - and not in any particular moment
I never say "never", I don't have a religion or a cult
I know that there's nothing that's definite or absolute
The eyes are open to see everything and more
Difficult people look for excitments - I give up in advance
How does it look when there's no choice? I give up in advance
How does it feel when you can't choose (different wording)? I give up in advance
If it's possible to be far away and to feel close
Then this world is too big for me, I want to leave
I live in a bubble, no entrance for anyone
I'm only left with singing songs, my soul needs a laundry

CHORUS

I write, therefore I am, I love, it runs through my blood
I touch the skies - and not in any particular momnet
I never say "never", I don't have a religion or a cult
I know that there's nothing that's definite or absolute
The eyes are open to see everything and more
Difficult people look for excitements - don't give up!
How does it look when there's no choice? Don't give up!
How does it feel when you can't choose? Don't give up!

Angel Witch - Confused

I stand looking for a friend,
Someone I can rely on,
All the people laugh at me,
I hide in my room,
They don't understand me,
Think that I have gone insane,
These four walls are closing on me,
Can't they realize my pain

Confused, confused, confused
Can't you see that I'm confused

The wild state of affairs gets worse and worse day by day,
Everybody seems to be confused,
No one ever knows the way
But still life carries on,
And you live a day and you just wait,
You only get one chance, don't let it just slip away

Confused, confused, confused
Can't you see that I'm confused

"I can't play. You're looking at me."

Not suggesting he was One of Us™ but I certainly relate to his music.

I was talking with my Dad the other day about this subject and he suggested Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I agree with him (and you).

I would have to say music I identify with includes

"What A Shame" by Shinedown
"What a shame to judge a life that you can't change"

"Scars" by Papa Roach
"I tear my heart open just to feel"
Comment: Scars wouldn't have been one the first thing I thought of though, original poster reminded me of it

"Getting Away With Murder" by Papa Roach
"I think my thoughts when I don't even need to"
Comment: I feel this one fits even better though the song title is a bit odd

"Creep" by Stone Temple Pilots
"Take time with a wounded hand cause it likes to heal"

"Don't Stop Dancing" by Creed
lyrics
Comment: One of the more positive songs I can think of, I highly recommend it.

"Weathered" by Creed
lyrics

"Almost Easy" by Avenged Sevenfold
"I feel insane every single time I'm asked to compromise cause I'm afraid and stuck in my ways and that's the way it stays"

"Slipping Away" by Dope
"I'm trying hard to understand and to know just who I am I'm trying hard to get a break or just to give a damn"

"I am" by Dope
"Sometimes you don't understand sometimes I am what I am sometimes I just can't be everything you hoped I'd be"

The song "Strangers Like Me" from the Disney movie Tarzan describes my thoughts emotions and reactions upon discovering the Autistic community.
I bolded the parts that especially apply

Whatever you do, I'll do it too
Show me everything and tell me how
It all means something
And yet nothing to me

I can see there's so much to learn
It's all so close and yet so far
I see myself as people see me
Oh, I just know there's something bigger out there

I wanna know, can you show me
I wanna know about these strangers like me
Tell me more, please show me
Something's familiar about these strangers like me

Every gesture, every move that she makes
Makes me feel like never before
Why do I have
This growing need to be beside her

Ooo, these emotions I never knew
Of some other world far beyond this place
Beyond the trees, above the clouds
I see before me a new horizon

I wanna know, can you show me
I wanna know about these strangers like me
Tell me more, please show me
Something's familiar about these strangers like me

Come with me now to see my world
Where there's beauty beyond your dreams
Can you feel the things I feel
Right now, with you
Take my hand
There's a world I need to know

I wanna know, can you show me
I wanna know about these strangers like me
Tell me more, please show me
Something's familiar about these strangers like me

... I wanna know!

"I'm Not That Girl" - Wicked

Hands touch, eyes meet
Sudden silence, sudden heat
Hearts leap in a giddy whirl
He could be that boy
But I'm not that girl:

Don't dream too far
Don't lose sight of who you are
Don't remember that rush of joy
He could be that boy
I'm not that girl

Ev'ry so often we long to steal
To the land of what-might-have-been
But that doesn't soften the ache we feel
When reality sets back in

Blithe smile, lithe limb
She who's winsome, she wins him
Gold hair with a gentle curl
That's the girl he chose
And Heaven knows
I'm not that girl:

Don't wish, don't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
I wasn't born for the rose and the pearl
There's a girl I know
He loves her so
I'm not that girl
---------

Of course, the Wicked Witch was shunned in school because she had green skin and was smart, not AS.

Jordan Pruit~ Outside Looking In

You don't know how it feels
To be outside the crowd
You don't know what it's like
To be left out
And you don't know how it feels
To be your own best friend on the outside looking in

She was shunned for being different, and I think autistics can relate to that.

"I'm Just A Kid" by Simple Plan

I woke up it was 7
I waited till 11
Just to figure out that no one would call
I think I've got a lot of friends but I don't hear from them
What's another night all alone?
When your spending everyday on your own
And here it goes

I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare
I'm just a kid, I know that it's not fair
Nobody cares, cause I'm alone and the world is
Having more fun than me
Tonight...

And maybe when the night is dead, I'll crawl into my bed
Staring at these 4 walls again
I'll try to think about the last time, I had a good time
Everyone's got somewhere to go
And they're gonna leave me here on my own and here it goes

I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare
I'm just a kid, I know that it's not fair
Nobody cares, cause I'm alone and the world is
Having more fun than me

What the f**k is wrong with me?
Don't fit in with anybody
How did this happen to me?
Wide awake I'm bored and I can't fall asleep
And every night is the worst night ever

I'm just a kid [repeat x5]

I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare
I'm just a kid, I know that its not fair
Nobody cares, cause I'm alone and the world is
Nobody wants to be alone in the world.

I'm just a kid and life is a nightmare
I'm just a kid, I know that its not fair
Nobody cares, cause I'm alone and the world is
Nobody wants to be alone in the world
Nobody cares, cause I'm alone and the world is
Having more fun than me tonight

I'm all alone tonight
Nobody cares tonight
Cause I'm just a kid tonight

The Smiths obviously, early The The, Joy Division, Quadrophenia[LP] - The Who,

but most intensely...

Daydream Nation[LP] - Sonic Youth, the textures and themes, the dissociative haze from which stabs of melancholy/joy calm/anger emerge, somehow it all takes place inside my aspergic self....

Of course if I took the time there are tons of others I could cojure to the forground of my aspie brain as all the music I love is selected by it...

peace j

Many have already been shared (How Soon Is Now?, People Are Strange, etc). But I have always found that John Lennon's songs, especially those on his albums Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, have always been songs that I have identified with and that capture the aspie experience.
One that comes to mind is Look At Me off the album Plastic Ono Band:

Lyrics:

Look at Me
Who am I supposed to be?
Who am I supposed to be?

Look at Me
What am I supposed to be?
What am I supposed to be?

Look at me
Oh, my love
Oh, my love

Here I am
What am I supposed to do?
What am I supposed to do?

Here I am
What can I do for you?
What can I do for you?

Here I am
Oh, my love
Oh, my love

Look at me
Oh, Please look at me, my love
Here I am, oh my love

Who am I?
Nobody knows but me
Nobody knows but me

Who am I?
Nobody else can see
Just you and me

Who are we?
Oh, my love
Oh, my love, oh, my love

A lot have mentioned The Smiths. They are my absolute favorite.

Here's mine:

it doesn't matter cause my eyes are lying
and they don't have emotion
don't wanna be social, can't take it when they hate me
but i know there's nothing i can do
