I used to be a DJ at a college radio station in Iowa. My show was called 'The New Music Experience" and I played mainly punk and new music. We didn't call it New Wave back then and, in fact, disregarded the term as being conformist. I played Lene Lovich, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, GBH, The Plasmatics, Joy Division, Visage, Dead Kennedys and many others. Sigh. Those were the days.

It's funny thinking about those times now. Back then, I was in awe of musicians. They could do no wrong as far as I was concerned. They were smart, perfect, pretty people who deserved a good life outside of the mainstream. Hell, I even went so far as to think they didn't poop (outside of G.G. Allin). They were like gods to be worshipped and idolized. Sigh. Those were the days.

Punk & its sub-genres are a lot of what I listen to: crust, hardcore, anarcho-punk, street punk & oi!, old-school, queercore, folk punk, pop-punk, goth-punk, emo/screamo, etc.

Bread and Water, Harum-Scarum, Aus-Rotten, Oxymoron, The Clash, The Ramones, The Distillers, Witch Hunt, Amebix, Ballast, Subhumans (UK), Black Flag, Trash Talk, Limp Wrist, The Dead End Boys, Appalachian Terror Unit, Burnt Cross, etc

speaking of punk rock I saw Guttermouth and Agent Orange recently. Agent Orange did an awesome set, but when Guttermouth came on the lead singer was drunk as hell. I could hardly hear him singing at all. Then he starts taunting the crowd and some idiot fan in the front row pulls the lead singers pants down. The lead singer then yells "I don't take that s**t!" and jumps into the crowd, beating up the fan with his microphone. He then hits random people, including my friends friend, (who is a girl btw,) and then the staff force him back onstage. It looks like they're going to be allowed to play nonetheless, until some other girl jumps onstage and attacks the lead singer. The staff then stops the show, and everyone's pissed off cause we came to see a show and not some drunk singer being an as*hole.

^ I love me some Agent Orange. I used to play tracks off Living In Darkness on my radio show a lot. I liked "Bloodstains", "Miserlou" and "Everything Turns Grey."

I used to play The Stepmothers and Circle Jerks, too.

^^^ Very good list going by the artists I'm familiar with.

I’m more of a metal guy but a lot of punk (and post-punk) is pretty great too.

Favourites of mine would include Amebix, Doom, Iskra, Discharge, Crass, Cro-Mags, DRI, Nausea, the Sex Pistols, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Black Flag, Minor Threat, Suicidal Tendencies (early stuff was punk), Napalm Death (earliest stuff was also punk oriented), TSOL etc.
And for post punk – Joy Division, Bauhaus, (early) Dead Can Dance, Gang of Four, Echo & the Bunnymen, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Minutemen, Public Image Ltd., The Birthday Party, The Cure, Killing Joke, The Sisters of Mercy etc.

I forgot about those bands you mention, especially Napalm Death. They are my top favorite. :D

I'm looking for a song I heard and liked. It goes something like:
"We're living on dog food! Dog food is good for you!"
Can anyone tell me what this is?
