This is not a complaint as such, but I was listening to ABC-Australia's Triple J network recently, and Vijay played some tune that started off like common-or-garden techno. Then I thought, "Hmm, that flute line sounds an awful lot like the flute riff from "Along Comes Mary" - which was a chart-topping hit for The Association, way back in 1966. Sure enough, whoever had recorded this tune had sampled huge chunks of "Along Comes Mary" and mashed it up with a different rhythm track.
I went looking on the Net to see whose work this was
and do you think I could find it? No luck whatsoever. Yes, the Bloodhound Gang did cover "Along Comes Mary" on their Hooray for Boobies album, but that wasn't the same song, and besides the Bloodhound Gang are a bit gross. Not my cuppa tea at all.
Anyway, for any of you who are interested, here is an excellent vid of the original artists performing "Along Comes Mary" on the Smothers Brothers TV show. (Complete with comic introduction of the band.)

And now I'm wondering if there truly is anything new under the sun when it comes to pop music.
