Breakage is still hangin tough - and he doesn't even need New Kids on The Block to help him out with that one :P. Insane tunes, though I still really miss his dnb production.

I love dubstep!

my favorite dubstep artists are Burial, Kode 9 & Skream (and whoever did that remix of the Lloyds TSB advert) the Juno dubstep podcast is fecking amazing :) i don't really go to clubs very often (cos i'm a long haired aspergic indie punk rocker dude) so the main way i listen to dubstep is through downloads

I love Benga & Coki's 'Night', it's so atmospheric and beautiful, like kode 9's 'Magnetic City' & most of Burial's work- i love the ambient nocturnal aspect of dubstep- always reminds me of driving around at night! :)

Norm Goodman's *huge*. Check out some of his free-verse at Abstract Cultures:

Him and Kodwo Eshun are both amazing. Found this strangely enough back in 2002 or 2003, wasn't even familiar with Kode 9 as a producer until recently when I started exploring dubstep a bit more.

I notice you live in Lancashire. Although you say you don't head to clubs often, does it actually have a clubbing scene? I'm moving to Lancaster next summer and so far have been unable to find anything promoting electronic music, dubstep, techno, drum and bass, ect. It would be certainly something I'd miss.

There's a few places in Cumbria that have dubstep nights- Kendal, Ulverston, maybe Barrow- I'm actually a student in Lancaster but i don't know the city that well, just finished my first term...

This tune might be rinsed to death already for anyone in the Europe or UK - love it though.

Actually on Zomby's LP I respect the idea of it, I know where he's coming from when I hear someone throwing down dubplates from 1994 and 95 (known Randall and Bailey to do that occasionally), the only thing I have to say - I know that by most people's standards 1991-93 was supposedly the time that topped all times to be in the scene and the music as well was at its most creative - I didn't join in from that mindset, my intro was dark jungle, acid techno, and hard trance from 1997/1998, I was a big industrial/metal kid and found something I liked even better than industrial and metal; similarly dark but with much more depth and elegance. I I guess that's that's why I can't really get myself into it.

I do like Tears In the Rain though, its tough not to like a song with Bladerunner clips innit :).

I recently downloaded 5 years of hyperdub- an amazing compilation. I love Zomby's 'Spliff Dub' & the original song "one spliff a day" by Billy Boyo is amazing. if you haven't heard it look it up on youtube

I didn't grow up listening to garage & dance music- i listened to metal, punk, Irish folk music etc. (and i still do) but a couple of years ago i got into electronic music; Aphex twin, DJ Shadow, Boards Of Canada, Kraftwerk etc. whilst simultaneously getting into reggae/ska & dub. eventually i found dubstep & fell in love with it!

Dubstep is unique to my generation of teens & 20 somethings- yeah it comes from reggae, hip-hop & garage but it's a zeitgeist thing & it's a relatively new genre, i think it's my generation's equivalent of punk or acid house.

Yeah, that highlights what I'm saying as well - different people will gravitate to different sides of the scene or sound based on where they were at in their lives when they came in contact with it (could be anything from metal to rap to country) and from what angle they were exposed that it spoke to them at that time.
