Erm.... 'Cheese' was my nickname for years but he has left the building.

Here's another somewhat older drawing where I went overdetailing.

The dude.

These are what I've been drawing this semester in my Algebra class.
I doodle while listening to lectures. I found I cannot take notes.. it's a waste of my time and I miss more than I get.
So now I doodle during lectures and I find I can listen to the teacher and stay active in class discussions.
I've actually had a few folks compliment me on my doodles... probably worried I'm some demented soul and they're afraid to mention how weird these things look! 8O

The thing I enjoy most about my doodles is that fact that you can take most any of them and rotate them to see different things.
I don't have many that are drawn only towards one specific orientation.

I don't like taking notes either but I usually just listen during lectures. I doodle more when I'm stalling on starting homework. I'll have my pencil in my hand but instead of starting my work I'll start drawing things.

This is concept art for two of the characters from an action/adventure/comedy/drama fantasy light novel I'm writing (whew!).

They started in my failed attempt at a webcomic last year, but somewhere in there my host left, I couldn't afford the fees, and it occurred to me that I couldn't draw. I've had a bit of practice since then, though I'd love some pointers if anyone's got the time.

I'm an amateur artist... more skilled than a few but less skilled than most. ^^; I've got about three or four different works in progress right now; I'll post 'em when I'm done sketching and inking them.

nice pic, I'd say you have the faces nailed, now work on the bodies, like the girl, looks "bony" (skinny, bones). If you are going to put them in a setting, draw it first, so you can get a good sense of the perspective, but that only gets better with practice, so, go practice! :D

My interpretation of Jimi Hendrix....
Image

It's another somewhat older drawing I made. It's made out of head (?), out of memory, without a picture or something to draw from. It's true. It has to do with me loving something obsessively, (in this case his music and the whole 'aura' around him) and putting a lot of time in the subject. But must say, earlier in life I was better in drawing out of memory.

You've got a very powerful command of shading. That's really remarkable for a face drawn without any pictures or models.

I started this a long time ago but never finished it, one of only a few drawings I ever did,
am feeling like maybe finishing it, does anyone think I have any hope at drawing?

Todd

Hi, Certainly you have the talent! You have a sense for making shadows and if you just give it some time now and then you can certainly improve it.
I also do photography and would like to see your work, is there a thread for that theme?

I emediately interpreted that as Lionel Richie for some reason....

And I as an artist can certainly contribute to this thread, although I dont like to share not finished work. Im an perfectionist and if I ever publish someting I want it to be perfect. But I will dig my scetches drawer, maybe I find something I can stand up for, scan in and bring on...

I hope you do Xalepax. I mean, share some of your works here.

And thank you for the compliment, Dentu.

(btw.... no worries but I think Lionel Richie is a dwarf next to Hendrix but I see what you mean, a little bit)

I know there was one old thread that I posted a few pics in, http://www.wrongplanet.net/postxf61154-0-15.html
I love doing landscape photos and panos.

Most of the works in progress and sketches I have are old and the finished pieces are now well done, but if I ever have any on the way, maybe I'll get to share.

Oldies but funnies and goodies of a pen, pencil and paper nature:

Image
These were done when I was ages 13-15, give or take here and there.

Image
Same with these.

Image
The first part of what will soon be a trilogy of mental drools. It's based on inner mind visions and dreams.

Image
This is the second of that series. The guy in the middle is the same guy as in the comic in the first, and both images came from dreams. He showed up in reality over a year later. If you draw it, they will come, I guess.

Image
This is the result of waiting for the cable guy to show up in one of my old places.

Image
Yay, concept doodles of aliens.

Image
This was just concepts to follow for an upcoming piece that wasn't the same thing.

Image
Old as mold. Well, 2003?

---

I'll leave the digital WIP sheets for the next post.

Ok, digital sketches and WIP pages:

Image
Oooold.

Image
Also old, 2004, first attempt at ArtRage.

Image
Still need to do this.

WIPs I made into tutorial page things:

Here is a large version since the scaled down one compromises the lines.
