Given how the election is going (for Trump) makes me wonder who will save the country?
Made this song by the sadly now largely forgotten singer-songwriter Laura Nyro to mind from the late Sixties.

The song combines Biblical references with political references of the time. Is the "king" were meeting...Jesus, or Martin Luther King Jr.?

Then it occurred how the song must of had roots in older music like Negro spirituals ...like songs with similar water imagery in the lyrics ...like "Wade in the Water". So...I called up some videos of that song too.

Turns out that "Wade in the Water" is also more than a spiritual, and is laden with hints to escaped slaves to escape north disquised as Bible references. The very title instructs you wade in streams to avoid the blood hounds detecting you.
