I don't get the "fire" part of it...

Here's an abstract I've been working on lately. It's acrylic on canvas, done with my fingertips and dagger shaders which I have just discovered hiding in the paintbrush section. Angle shaders are nice but daggers are wonderful. This piece is in the final stages. Some white dots and a signature are all that remains to be added.

I can't seem to get them to display. I used the insert image feature and it just gives me a broken link symbol.

Here is a picture I drew on a doily I found in an op shop. It is of a knitted possum.

I want to explain why I dont show anything here. I have simply published basically all my art I have done. From exhibitions to books and stuff. My policy is simply to not publish it again somewhere else as this can interefere in my integrity. So if I shall bring on something I simply have to show something that is not shown somewhere else before. Thats easier said than done and I simply have to produce some new artwork for this only purpose...

Anyway, I always follow this thread with great interest!

Thank you! :) I'm not exactly sure I understand "computermade" but yes I used a computer. I created it from scratch, in Photoshop, on my Wacom device using Photoshop brushes.

it really looked as if there were some photographical elements in this kxmode
so it's all drawing then? (or did you use textures from pictures?)
the light in it is wonderful, but that seems to be your 'signature' (i watched your artwork on deviant and you seem to have more of this)

well xalepax, now you have announced yourself, we are waiting for your artwork ;)

Yep, that rings a bell... tangled, complicated, but not totally chaotic, lines everywhere... That's what I've been doing lately. I wasn't finding time to do much but finally just found one day that I had to, that art had not been a hobby (it never was, it was always the thing I wanted to do) but an outlet, as cliche as that sounds. So I started using brush pens for a couple of years. I could work around the kids and my schedule using pens and I had had some good results using them in a couple of classes. I can make very complicated stuff with them but of course color is a different animal with them, and if they dry out, you can't just squeeze some more and thin it and go on. So I decided that now that I had gained some insight into what I enjoyed (even if I just made it for me) I could have better control over the color scheme and use up all those canvases if I went back to painting.

Besides, it's something of a mission for me to make sure I am always painting something or will be painting something... There's this old lady in my husband's family, his step-mother's mom, who took up painting in her old age. One of those Bob Ross viewers. I suppose she thinks she's connecting with me every time she sees me when she asks, "So, are you still painting?" but the way she puts it irritates me to no end. I can't shake the feeling that she's just waiting for me to say I'm not so that she can go into a speech about how kids keep you too busy... To be sure, they do. But it's like she's expecting me to stop at some point. Of course, when I was working with ink, I didn't feel like I'd quit painting, just made it more accessible.

Yes it was all drawn, or rather painted, from scratch using photoshop brushes. I didn't use reference pictures (for abstract pieces I never do). I didn't use textures. The brushes really did a great job with colors tones so that shapes didn't appear as single blobs of color. I also used gradients to further enhance the textures. You're more than welcome to view the layered PSD file to give you an idea of how I created this: http://www.kxmode.com/myspace/cocoon.psd

I meant created on a computer, not with a pen in your hand kinda... I tend to call that "classic art" as much art can be made with computers nowadays. Im myself just a beginner with computerart. I use to work in photoshop but then mostly by doing tricks with photos. To do such an artwork like yours is extraordinary. I have no clue how to create such a thing with photoshop...
