thanks for the link, I've not heard of Nite Jewel before. She sounds a little like Grimes, who I'm listening to a lot just now.

Last week I sent 3 demos out to a few people I really respect, for some feedback. Unanimously, I've been advised to redo this track and send it to Rush Hour in Holland. It's very rough and automated by hand. I think I'm going to try for the same sort of raw vibe with the finished track.

I'm going to get Hardgroove (Ben Sims/Paul Mac/Mark Broom) to master it for me.

Something that I wrote at the end of 2010 but was running into nonstop transcoding problems with on Soundcloud. Now that its fixed this tune actually plays right! Yay!

5PRYME - Camoflague
http://soundcloud.com/5pryme/5pryme-camoflague

A bit of discription - its very calm and still. The visual aspect I was thinking of was something haunted and tropical, a bit like one of Adam Beyer and Marco Corolla's more Myst/Riven feeling tracks. I called it 'Camouflage' because it was trained on my imagination of being in a jungle somewhere - everything's peaceful, serene, even eerie, but at the same time you're in a life and death game with something that's stalking you and you see black and green tiger stripes occasionally gliding by behind foliage - if you don't outsmart it you'll be dead by nightfall.

The LFO'd bassline and the little eight-bit sound make it. Like it.

A tune I'd love to do a 2013 or 2014 remix of, when I've really got both the time and talent:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGytwl5_2pc

Only shame - the guy who recorded this overloaded the bassline. Still, epic oldschool tune and no one's touched it.....yet.

I think sonically it's very good. I find it a little too repetitive for my taste, as it is.

I like it. I think I'd groove the drums up a bit, but that might just be my taste. Like the pads. Think I'd either sharpen the snare a bit, or add a sharper one in for some variation. Is it 'finished'?

One very pedantic thing; your second snare in each bar is truncated, yes? I would either pronounce that effect by truncating more, or actually give it more length and bang.

I suspect you might have the same bass problem that I tend to run into... it's very low and 'siney' so it doesn't have any presence on small speakers or headphones... I'm not entirely sure how to deal with it myself... adding upper harmonics?

I've got nothing musical to show, and may not for a while, I've been writing a lot of words.

Yeah, I'd say its done at this point for what it is. Most of the elements as well were about as honed as I could get them; had to shift them up the frequency range a bit as it previously had too much low frequency content.

I've composed two new pieces in the last 3 days... my 8th and 9th composition.
I think they are totally different from everything I've done before. Probably not my best works... I've anyway only spent around one hour to write each piece, I didn't have the energy to invest more time and thinking into it.
probably I should also have practised more but... I hope you consider it good though.
thanks for your attention!

Wow, she's got a nail-gun of a voice! Count me as a fan!

Definitely showing improvement!

I like the 8th one more than the 9th one. Through both compositions you're showing sensitivity to dynamic and other musical contrasts, and that's going to go a long way to helping you find your voice.

I only have a very minor comment. I like that you use polyrhythms. But I'm worried that you might have a tendency to overuse them. After a while it seems rather cliché or contrived, so you might want to watch that. Otherwise, GREAT work!! !

If that's what you can do in an hour, you'd be a force to be reckoned with if you spent more time getting it really polished. I hope you'll begin working on structured pieces that last 3 minutes or more.

I've spent the last couple of months programming an Oberheim Matrix 1000. I've got my first batch of 100 patches down and am looking to write maybe 100 more. I may take a break from the Obie and work on some TX7 programs. The two synths can really compliment each other in combination. But for now here is a quick demo I made using four of my Obie patches, demonstrating my DX7-inspired EP, a plucked comp sound (electric guitar-ish), a tonewheel organ in need of repair, and a simple analog bass that almost sounds like a modern bass guitar. I haven't made any analog drum sounds yet, so for the time being I'm using an Ultrabeat preset. I still need things like SFX, basses, drums/percussion, and leads. But here is a tiny sampling of some of the best that I have, and I hope to be doing more such demos as time permits. Enjoy!

This is an ep I recorded using just ableton live and no instruments or vocals. I think it could be shorter but I'm quite happy with it.

Cool, sounds a bit like Toejam and Earl.

Warning, lyrics are NOT work safe.
