hey all, i'm in the process of (mentally) composing a musical piece for my good online friend Miss extraordinary ;) they know who they are..
Anyways, i asked what kind of music or sound they enjoy listening to & the initial response was "Twinkly & pretty"
i have some ideas floating around, but nothing that really sticks out at this point.. Any ideas or suggestions..??
i realise this is perhaps an obscure request but like old jack always says "What the hell"

Bells, xylaphone, glokenspiel (I'm sure that's misspelled)
Might help to use those sorts of instruments for the "twinkly" thing.

A good twelve string guitar can be very pretty, maybe twinkly. Maybe start with major chords and then drop into seventh chords, keeping a sort of light ambient feel.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

I'm pretty sure you can make a tambourine pretty easily. In fact, I know you can because I did it when I worked daycare. Try googling it, I bet you get lots of hits from craft and kid websites.

I don't know about the animal skin thing. I'm just thinking some kind of round disc with with something like those cymbal thingies attached on a tambourine might work well in replace of a real one.

Hmm, well, I don't know about your friend but I would certainly class this as twinkly;

And these as pretty, the guitars especially;

That's just me though. Ah, sorry for spamming you with links. Still, they're all good songs in my opinion. Good luck. :o

I'm not an expert in music but C Minor always came across to me as a twinkly scale. I guess C Major is too, but I hate that scale, it's too "pop"

natural minor? or another minor? thanks lol Cmajor is used so often..
why C though?
i don't have perfect pitch so to me the intervals are more noticeable than the key. ie if someone plays the root note i can (just about) sing the scale but i couldn't hit a C without at least 1 note as reference.

when I think of 'twinkly pretty', it always reminds me of the early 90's Cocteau Twins; sort of Blue Bell Knoll, 4 calender cafe, etc.

check 'em out. The words are (deliberately) indecipherable...but it's soothing.
