Insane question: How many metal heads here like Jazz?

Even if you don't like jazz:

How many are aware of metal's many jazz roots? 8O

Metal ... jazz... yes.

Definitely Led Zeppelin. Black Sabbath, I am thinking of the drumming.
Tool is very jazzy, depending on what you are looking at, esp on Lateralis. Freaking amazing.

Zeppelin demonstrates some influence, I agree, but Sabbath actually started out as a jazz club band.

Even Peter Criss of Kiss played Jazz long before he hooked up with Kiss.

Ever heard any really early Judas Priest? When they used to wear frilly outfits?

You can definitely here it in the drumming on the early work of many bands that eventually became the heaviest influences of Eighties metal bands,but you have to go way back.

I think I was figuring at the time it might open a rabid debate. Times sure have changed. When I was still in high school, a question like this would have lit the fire of ridicule ablaze! In fact it did! Every metal head I knew at the time told me I was NUTZ and didn't know what I was talking about.
