Just FYI: Stan Free's synth-pop band 'Hot Butter' released a slightly peppier version of this instrumental as a single in the summer of 1972. It peaked in August of that year at #9 on the Billboard Top Forty chart.

Oddly, James Brown had a hit with a dance song called 'The Popcorn' the same year Gershon Kingsley recorded this one. The GOS peaked at #30 in June with his song, and recorded a string of sequels such as "Mother Popcorn' and 'Let a Man Come in And Do the Popcorn'. No idea whether Kingley's or Brown's was released first, but since they're not the same song I suppose it's a moog point.

LOLOLOL!! !! :D

I know about Hot Butter's version, I have it :) but Gershon's is far superior in my ears. Crazy Frog also did a remix, and there have been two "techno" remixes, among others :)

groan...;) I remember this coming out, and being on the radio. There was so much cheesy music in the 70s...;)

I actually got to take a synth course in college using that kinda Moog. Took 5 cables just to get the keyboard to work...;)

If you like the song Popcorn, here's a page which has 79 different versions of the song:

My favorite is the V. Malone version.

The Boston Pops version made me laugh, so much talent devoted to playing something so slight.

That's a great site. I really like the Boston Pops version! I've heard plenty of classical pieces that were just as slight and trivial. I also especially liked the Bim-Skala-Bim and the Hot Cats.

Great! :) I was only familiar with Hot Butter's version.
