I love photography, and have been taking a lot of self portraits since I switched to digital.
Its theraputic in a way.
It is fun to make a lot of faces and then immediately looking at the results. Sometimes it can be surprising, because my face often doesnt look like I think it looks. For instance, many times it ends up looking like I am smiling when I didnt think I was, or I try to smile and end up with a pretty creepy portrait...

I think this instant feedback has helped me with learning to express myself more appropiately, and understand why people react certain ways to me.
It's different than looking in a mirror, because you don't have the visual cues to help you along.

A lot of people don't enjoy self-portraiting, because they either see no point to it or feel if they did it would be considered arrogant.

I would recommend it though!!
Even if its just a cheap digital camera... spend a few hours experimenting with different expressions. You could learn something from yourself.
I have been treating my body more as a "subject", than if it were ME. It is difficult to see the results as being ME, so I think that is why I have so much fun with it because it's the same as if I were trying to capture another person.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/apeirophobia/ is my flickr photo stream if anyone else uses flickr.
Until a year ago I never took any pictures of myself. Now it is a new hobby that I pursue happily when it is too rainy outside to take nature photographs.

Nice pic's....very nice actually!

While I can't say I'm a fan of having my picture taken, I've been thinking about playing around with my camera since I went digital too.
Recenty got bak into photography as a hoby after a 13 year leave. I'm still rather amature at it but getting better.
I'm really wanton got do low light and night scape stuff but haven't gotten around to doing anything yet.
