Here in the Philadelphia area we have a radio station that does an annual countdown based on listener submissions. They just announced this year’s theme is the 10 songs you’d want on a CD if you were stranded on a desert island.

I set out to do a “quick and dirty" list of must haves, and still ended up tearing my hair out… Arrggggghhh! So difficult! I finally had to take it a step further to get down to 10 by asking myself, if I knew I was going to die in an hour and I could listen to 10 songs, what would they be? This is what I came up with. I used iTunes Playlist to work it out.

Ooh! I was just listening to Desert Island Discs on Radio 4 the other morning, for the first time in years, and I started thinking about this. (They only let you have eight, though.)

My ten would be:

These lists are all so diverse, love it! And it's Hallelujah in the lead among the WP community, looks like.

I've been thinking about how "desert island" can be open to some interpretation. Does it mean your all-time favorites? Does it mean, what would you want to hear before you die? Or maybe, you're in the perfect setting and you want music to relax to? These could all be very different lists, although for me, I kind of considered all three.
