I was shocked when I read what getting "released" meant in the book. BTW, I've read this book in my english class this year.

Yeah another word for kill. I read it in high school and the book upset me. Perfect people they want. I wouldn't have survived in their world.

Yep. Anyone who is old or "defective," they give them a lethal injection of sorts. The book presents one version of what the future could be like. Yikes.

Really? I had my strong suspicions - what else could it mean?- but I hoped I was wrong.

The first time I read it I was about 17 or 18. The last time was around new year's.
It's one of my all time faves! Sooo good!

This book really got me into comparative societal forms/types. I was also quite taken with the concept of the Ceremonies.
